passing on the Air Jordan XXX because it is the same as XX9 Balling on my XX9 and I love it, but nothing beat the BEAST CHAMPION XX8 (M10) if the XXX will drop to 60 to 80 $ in price then ill buy one please JB and Nike make XXXI more interesting and different design
Should've ended with XXIII. Then only year for identifier after that. Not sure why they resumed the Roman numerals for identification? The line should've been passed down by now to someone else.
its because the number sounds better than a year to the consumer. nike recognized that and switched it back to the numbers. the line has been passed down a couple of times now. Wade had it for a couple of years and now Russ has them.
i just like the people who are so loyal to the brand and say "IN" before seeing any pics, so much loyalty to a brand who cares zero for its fans, ok maybe not zero but they could def make us much happier and it wouldnt cost them much if anything at all
Some truth in your text. I was looking forward to see how the XXX look like and was very disappointed not because they look that bad but for reusing the whole sole from the xx9 and Tinkers excuse was just hilarious.
The Jordan line has a solid record of producing good hoop shoes. I wouldn't go in blindly, but I am willing to bet the shoes will perform well
I hope they look like these concepts designed by ALPHAPROJECT (aka. Jason Petrie) of Niketalk. For the Jordan XXX, I wish they release the galaxy colorway, okc orange, and hornets colorways.
I hope its literally an updated and well made flyknit 1 with a classic looking but high performance sole. Slap a black leather swoosh on them for contrast like the kobe 11 ftb and we're good. Not like the Obama 1s though. I'd like to see the toe rand, lace rand and heel to be noticeably thicker than the rest instead of the one piece look the obamas had. Just start remaking the classic originals again every year but modernized. Start over. I think I speak for everyone when I say there hasn't been a newer model since the 23 thats been 'ok'. We're getting somewhere with the 29 and 30 but they aren't cutting it. So why keep trying to design another classic? Just update them instead. Stop wasting time with trying to come up with new classic. Its not going to happen. You already have the best designs and blueprints in your archive, JB. Just build them with whats available now that you would've used if you could when making them back in the 80's and 90's. Kind of like the Jordan 1 alpha I guess just not ugly and perforated. And with the flyknit 2 to follow and not just a one off thing. A flyknit V would be ridiculous.
Do you guys remember the tie-in with Bugs Bunny a few months before we started seeing leaked pics of the XXX? http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports....dan-xxx-in-interview-with-ahmad-rashad-video/ I'm curious to see if they'll revisit the Bugs Bunny tie-in with the XXX1 or go in a completely new direction?
I doubt JB would take the 1 influence this literal but does anyone else remember a NTers particular proto/wear-test version of the XX1 which literally did have an AJ1-esq upper? ..regardless, I cant wait to move past the 29.5
Similar things happened when the Air Jordan X originally released-it was planned as an homage to MJ after his 1st retirement but when he returned in 1995, it was kind of awkward how he wore them (he switched to the then-unreleased XI in the 1995 playoffs). After that, Nike/JB took forever to finally retro the Xs and, although Xs retro all the time nowadays, they were an awkward model (like the 30s are) back then.
There's literally no way to update a classic design without people hating it.. Remember these monstrosities? (8.0s)
Never forget. What Im saying is update the model with today's tech. something like this instead of it being 1 flat piece though, have all of the panels stick out like they're supposed to. But not just flyknit instead of leather though. Maybe update the sole with lunar instead of polyurethane or zoom instead of air. Make the shoe perform like 2016 but keep the aesthetics true to the model. Hide some carbon fiber inside of the 1 sole with zoom, make the hard rubber out of something softer, reinforce parts of the upper like the XXX but hide everything under its outer skin so that it looks how its supposed to look. What Im saying is leave the design alone and just update the silhouette to 2016 performance standards. Take the whatever budget that goes towards coming up with a complete redesign of the model every year and just make it be XXX1 = updated 1 XXX2 = updated 2 XXX3 = updated 3 etc... I think the XXX part before the number makes it even more marketable. Im tired of waiting for them to come up with something cool again. Its been too long. Just go back and re-do the classics every year and leave the design overhaul days behind with the 30. They have some of the most epic blueprints ever made, stop trying so hard to create something you a;ready have I guess is what Im getting at. Basically the Jordan XXX1 should be those flyknit 1s above but with more pronounced panels, then take the jordan XX9/XXX sole again lol and shape it into something that looks like an Air jordan 1 sole as close as possible. Slap it together and call it a day. On to the XXX2. They may not perform quite as well as a XXX but no one would care if they look good while trying to. Even better if they get them to that level. I think it would be a huge success.
I'll never forget these. Mainly because I saw some dude at an outlet by a FSR of the Aqua colorway. He seriously thought he was about to flip actual Aquas. I didn't have the heart to tell him. If he hadn't already paid and was baggin them up I woulda def said something at the aisle.
You have some very good points but I think they want to keep their retro market and performance market seperate. The profit margins on retros are INSANE because they can sell 20-30 year old tech at a huge profit due to little overall cost (I think each pair of AJ 1s costs less than $20 to make and ship to retail.. Insane.). Hilariously, your idea would cannibalize their "sell-retros-made-with-cheap-materials" business model because it would make those into better products that cost more to manufacture. They would have to significantly increase the retail cost for these retros and risk losing marketshare as a result. That said, I could definitely see them testing the waters and pulling a pinnacle-like release with a performance version of a model that keeps the exact same look. The problem is that the market for performance basketball shoes is HIGHLY competitive, even mostly within Nike and Jordan Brand itself. People would be hard sought to drop $300+ on a pair of preformance retros when they could get a pair of Kobes/Lebron/Kyries/Currys for half that price or even less. Also, if the reduced MSRP for the Lebron 13 Elites and rumored $200 pricing for the AJ XXX1 is correct-the sweet spot for flagship performance models is about $200.
