Da aqua colorway of these weren't bad thou... And da kids ones were basically VIII's cuz they used da same midsole/outsole.
I hope the Jordan XXX1 is something I can vibe with. Because all the Jordans from 15 on up have misses to me. However, I do like maybe the 21s( which I feel is underrated); the 17s & 18s( really because of nostalgic reasons) but I feel like they can do way better because they have made such iconic shoes in the past. I don't know what they are going for with these new original releases but I hope the get back to the way they to use to be

I think the last air jordan that incorporated much leather for the upper were the 2011 though they were quite light. 2012s only had some leather parts over the flywire and the xx8 the first air jordan that incorporated zero leather for design. Last "heavy" air jordans i would say were either the 20 - 23 or 2009. The 2010 were quite light.
A number of weeks ago, Dino replied to someone on Twitter saying the XXX1 was gonna be as if the Air Jordan 1 dropped now. He didn't express anything more than that. I like the idea, but we already got the Air Jordan 1 Alpha though. With the full length Zoom.
Man, I forget just how AWFUL the Alpha was. And by forget, I mean I never forgot. The silhouette reeked of an obvious fake that I could never truly accept.
I think he meant something else. Not that the design of the xxx1 looks similar to the 1 but that it's look and appeal has the similar effect like the 1 did in 1985. This means it should be something very eye catching and unique and not too decent.
Yeah, maybe they are trying to do what no other modern flagship performance basketball shoe (from ANY brand) is currently doing-have equally great performance AND lifestyle/casual wear appeal.
Ok, so I have a theory on this. You might remember that when the XXX came out, Tinker and Mark Smith were doing an interview, and Tinker started to say something about "printing" the jumpman symbol on the toe of the XXX, and Smith IMMEDIATELY cut him off and said something along the lines of "we can't say that word." Well, now, with the XXX1 we have one of the color ways called "fine print." I am almost positive that there is going to be 3D printing of some sort incorporated into this shoe. Hence Smith cutting Tinker off when he even mentioned the word print in the release of the XXX. This would be super innovative...as only adidas and underarmor have done it in tiny runs.
Cool theory! This would certainly be a game-changer! If this is true, the cost of the shoe would be expensive as UA & NB have incorporated 3D printing into their shoes and they cost $300 & $400!! AND those shoes have significantly low production numbers in the hundreds. We know the price of the XXX1 to be $200. So as much as I'd like your theory to be true which would be awesome, its probably not. Remember, the Jordan sig will be a mass produced shoe and 3D printing isn't quite there as far as mass production is concerned. Maybe Nike/JB will change that. I'm not even aware of any 3D printing solutions for sneakers by Nike in any way ( except for football cleats). Anyone got info on Nike/JB and 3D printing?
On the business end, a couple of reasons: Firstly, definitely less waste. Secondly, 3D printing will eventually replace traditional molds down the road. So obviously better for the environment and will bring the cost of shoes down. On the design end, since its printed, you can get endless designs and shapes that weren't possible with traditional mold making. So it'll change the visual aesthetic of shoes in the future. Also, as a consumer in the future, you'll be able to have the shoe/mid-sole printed to the exact measurements of your foot. Its like a shoe made specifically for you. For example if you need more arch support, you wouldn't need arch inserts or a dr scholl's, it would just be printed into the design. Its exciting stuff!
Sounds very interesting. I hope that they really make use of it to create very interesting upper patterns. Because the recent air jordans had been using very plain upper designs.
Sorry, the upload does not work. But basically mostavailable casual 3d print shoes are having much Ventilation areas on the whole shoe.
I feel like they might institute the 3D printing in a limited form on the shoe. Maybe the heel section of the midsole (like the recent UA shoe), or a heel clip, etc. Or maybe not--maybe they'll go further. I'm going to try to look into patents that Nike has issued. Maybe there's something there. I'm just saying, I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL if the XXI goes that direction. It is the natural next step.

I'm confused as to where he was going with all the 3d printing reaching lol. Like what would that even matter or be a part of on the shoe? I'm sure they already 3d print mock ups of certain things. Not sure how that would be some super futuristic thing to make synthetic parts with a different machine
Maybe "almost positive" was reaching, I agree on that. Let me put it this way, I am expecting something pretty groundbreaking for this sneaker, especially since they haven't done S*** different on the last two, and I think that 3D printing might be just that. We'll see what happens!
I'm not trying to "reach," I'm just hoping that we get something new/cutting-edge with these. I've never been more disappointed with a pair of J's than I was with the XXX's. No innovation in those whatsoever.
As we know, the 29 was the shoe for 1.5 years, a departure from the traditional 1 year run. Now we get the 30 for ~6 mo before the 31. I think what probably happened is the 30 design period overlapped with the 31. Either the 29 was such a great shoe and selling so well that Nike didn't want to interrupt it, or perhaps there were production issues, etc that pushed the 30 back (which would make sense why it released with some comfort issues.. not enough time to properly wear test the final design maybe). I have to think initially the 30 was pegged for a release 1 year later, not 1.5. The 31 is going to release on schedule, making it seem like the 30 is a bastard child, when in fact it was just delayed on, or not on purpose. Makes sense to release a halo shoe before the start of a season, not dead in the middle, so the 31 is just sticking with the original schedule. But many feel the 29 is the best performing shoe ever, so I can understand why they didn't "innovate" anything new with the 30. Obviously the reception has probably told them that was a bad decision.
