ANKLE SUPPORT DOESNT COME FROM THE HEIGHT OF A SHOE!!!!!!!!! A HIGHER TOP SHOE WILL NOT HELP PREVENT ACHILLES INJURIES OR ANY KIND OF INJURY!!! SCIENTIFIC FACT!!!!! So sick of reading that crap. If you dont like a low top shoe, then dont wear them, The Kobe line is low top, get over it!!! Go buy some lebrons or jordans if you want hight top! I absolutely love low tops, and kobe's are the best of them.

Obviously we need more pics, but I hope it comes out well. I am going to miss having the low top on the Kobe's, but we will see how these turn out.

No way these will be the same price as a regular flyknit model. Take the price of the most expensive regular release fk, and raise it by 20-30.

We'll be lucky if Nike is nice and keeps it under $200 for regular releases.

I just can't see Nike giving the Kobe 9 a $40 price increase from the Kobe 8.

My guess would be these will debut around $160-$165 for base models, but maybe that $180 pricepoint for "premium" colorways/themes.

I love my flyknit racers and the Kobe 8s- so I'm excited to see these, but unless they designed a crazy support system, I really would not want to ball in them. I am prone to rolling my ankles, so I never even attempted to ball in the 8s.

I didn't know that. I just went by the Flyknit Chukka price of $170, and just deducted a few $ since those have an entire lunar outsole.

But if these are around $180-$200, I may have to tap out after a couple of pairs.

170 or 180, not 100%. But these will most likely be more than that. Don't forget that flyknit for the most part isn't mass produced, so the 9s will probably be pretty limited.

Ill def tap out after one or two pairs of any more than 160.

Well, whatever the case on pricing, Nike needs to release Lakers' colorways FIRST (preferably colorways that Kobe is wearing at the time).

I actually feel more locked in with my Kobe 8s than any other shoe before.  And I used to be huge about wearing mids/highs.  They say the 8s are even better because they keep your feet lower to the ground.  If you're gonna roll the ankle, you will roll it... regardless of it being a mid or high

It's a special machine that "knits" the upper. It's a different procedure than anything else.

Why Nike doesn't buy or make more machines to cover the demand, I can't answer that.

I don't know about you, but I have "caught" my ankle many times due to high/mids. My fear is those little tweaks or slight rolls which seem to go away after a couple minutes, turns into a full-blown sprains with the Kobe 8s or KD 6s.

But have you played in lows to confirm this?  You just said you never played in the 8s.

I'm not trying to fuel a fire here.  I'm just saying, I've hooped for about 15 years in many mids/highs and more recently lows. It has not made a difference.

If anything, the mids/highs most likely just let you sense when your ankle is rolling to one side or the other, because the upper rests against your ankle.  I really don't think they're gonna save you any better.  The main factor is how high your foot is off the ground.  But whatever you're more comfortable playing in is what you should go with.

I haven't done it. Maybe I will throw on my Easters next time I play. I'm just afraid I'm going to have to be carried out of the gym like my friend was when he busted both ankles while playing in his Kobe 5s

I'm sure it's been talked about somewhere in this thread, but I'll be interested to see how Fuse gets incorporated with the [proposed ] Flyknit upper. There's no way a basketball shoe gets made with only Flyknit, just like there can't be a basketball shoe with solely EM.

So I'm on Instagram looking for Kobe 9 teasers...I come across some pics and start digging more..I find myself on Brettgolliff.com apparently this guy is a shoe designer who has worked with Nike...he made up some sketches and concepts for the Kobe 9 including the elite and NSW versions last year...just a few pics I stole...I doubt these will be the final product, just found it interesting..and I could see how flyknit could be used

    And the elites
