I remember seeing him in high school and thinking this unorthodox stuff probably won't work at the next level.

They gotta move Green. He’s a cone on defense. Amen’s offense will catch up to his defense, shot is still kinda flat but I think he can get that right.

the unwritten 50 game winner requirement made sense given the history of the NBA.

- the best players player more minutes back in the day
- lower depth of skill meant the most talented players had a bigger impact on winning and losing
- we didn't have the ability to watch all the games
- we had more primitive statistics.

but it's 2024, we have the footage, we have all the stats. we can use our brains and figure out who should win the MVP .

we don't need any "best player on the best team" heuristics anymore.

Whole reason why they used to vote that way was because most voters didn't or couldn't watch as much as they do now and just standings watched
