The Official NBA Season Thread: All 30 Teams Playing Tonight

Kawhi whole career before putting on a Raptors jersey > Lowry’s entire career.
unfortunately for you non of this matters to a greatest raptor of all time conversation.

We’ve seen what Kyle Lowry accomplished before and after Kawhi as well…

whatever it was, it's worth more to the raptors, as HE DID IT AS A RAPTOR.
Which is the only thing that counts in a greatest raptor of all time conversation.

And yet Lowry didn’t win finals mvp…

so anyone who doesn't win the finals mvp is a coattail rider??? wut?

Is it because this was basketball in Canada? Cause no one thinks Tracy McGrady should get a Jersey retirement (he shouldn't) and he's has similar "impact" on the court for a Franchise

Im convinced this is the only reason people say this.
Like we are just supposed to be greatful a dude averaged 20 ppg and was literally one of the worst postseason performers of all time.

and journalists LOVE him. like all the local journalists constantly try to make it seem like we have to do this. its pathetic.

I respect DeRozan's post raptor career a lot.

Worked super hard and turned himself into a winning player.
But with the Raptors he was an overrated compiler, who was lucky to be one a team with Kyle Lowry.

This is not a personal argument.

Kawhi 1 year as a Raptor > Lowry’s whole tenure as a Raptor. Accomplished more in less time. It’s that simple.

Not everyone that doesn’t win fmvp is a coattail rider but Kyle Lowry certainly was.

T Mac as a Magic/Rocket is the same thing as Vince as a Raptor. Its all not jersey retirement worthy.
VC was Raptors 1st all-star, lead them to their 1st playoffs, 1st playoff victory, 1st playoff series victory, 1st all-nba player, 1st slam dunk champ.

Being 1st matters, especially for a newer franchise

like I said, if you want to live your own personal reality where you can be the goat of a franchise off of 70 load managed games and one playoff run.
that's fine. but there rest of will live in reality where this isn't the case.

no other franchise operates that way. so expecting the raptors to is silly.

Kawhi is more of a coattail rider that Kyle.

he is a malcontent who is unreliable, never healthy, and provides zero leadership.
he needs an extremely strong existing leadership structure, and someone to pick him up when he inevitably comes up gimpy.
he got that with spurs, and with the raptors. outside of that his teams have always fallen apart.

luckily he was able to ride Kyles coattails to a second championship, without his career would be looked at as a gigantic disappointment.

🤷‍♂️
