They did not get rid of JVG for Doc. ESPN got rid of JVG because he had been there for 16 years and they were looking to cut costs as an organization so he was laid off and Doc would/will be a cheaper alternative. It has nothing to do with them thinking Doc is a superior is a color commentator/analyst.

I thought the same when I was watching Chino Hills during the Ball years lol. They was still beating most teams thoughWatching ESPN. Is this really how basketball is played at the HS level nowadays

Some of you are too young to remember this but Doc was solid as a STUDIO analyst after he retired from the NBA.
I think that would be a solid role for him as well as Tim Legler.

I would pose this question about anything on a human level but he has displayed flashes with some movie or television commentary. Hoping that will make its way to basketball at some point.
