Always been a fan of your photos. Great composition on your rig shots and sharp as usual, especially the second from last shot.

Well since the old thread is gone (R.I.P) I think we should start this thread off with some type of year in review. Everyone should pick 5-10 of therefavorite images from the year of 2009 and share with everyone. I will post some of my shots once i go through them all.

Can anyone suggest a new ballhead...I used to have a Bogen 488RC2. It was a good ball head...not sure if theres something better/easier to use out there.

I looked at the first page and the first newb link is how to take a pic not actually where to start.

i second this. i think 10 is too many though, 5 sounds about right. the more pictures people put in one post, the less each one is looked at. it's like visual diarrhea a lot of the time, esp. when self-editing goes to hell

You should start looking for deals now. I have been watching multiple amazing deals pop up a few times a week that I would definitely snatch up if I hadn't already. Also start deciding now whether you'd like the body alone and invest in a better lens or go for the whole body plus kit lens that way you also know if you need to be researching lenses. All the deals I have seen now include the kit lens at prices that are even better than the price of the body alone. Either way it's good that you've started researching now so that you can make a better informed decision.

Good luck! It is an awesome camera!

Thanks for the advice and tips. People are real responsive and helpful throughout this thread.

Hope it stays that way and not like the last one.

Sounds like the Canon S90 is what you're looking for. Think G11 in a more compact body. I'm selling my 24-70L, 70-200 f/4L and Sigma 10-20 to buy the G11 + gifts for friends and family.
the S90 looks NICE but its a bit pricey.. we shall see.. its the holiday season.. maybe i can get one as a gift

cameltrophy24 - Niceee stuff

Awesome to see another Olympus user in here (seems everyone else either shoots Canon or Nikon).
What camera are you shooting with?

Rap taking the reins......good job dude. We really needed a reference page for basic stuff. Maybe you can add the questions that always gets asked likebeginner DLSRs and even good point and shoots. That way, we can filter all the useless stuff and keep with general stuff that we always post or talk aboutthings that need more attention.

Anyways....you know I love this post. Most of my 1800+ posts have been in this thread. Some junk over the weekend:
