How's everyone's experience with the Tokina 11-16mm or the Tokina 10-17mm?

I'm leaning towards getting the 10-17mm but it seems like everyone is praising the 11-16mm on this thread.

I honestly don't have any experience with the 10-17. But I do own the 11-16 and it's an awesome lens. The lens is around $600-$700 and it's definitely worth it. The aperture is fast for an ultra wide zoom, 2.8, and it's built is very good...not flimsy at all. On a crop sensor, the 11-16's distortion isn't bad, and I'm not sure but I believe that the 10-17 is more of a fisheye lens. My suggestion is to go to a camera store and ask to play with both, or if you can, rent the lenses and see how you like them before you commit cash on them.

Much thanks for the input dude.
I think I may actually go for the FE. I've been lusting for one for years lol.

I'm hoping to scoop one up before leaving for this big vacation this summer. I'm going to be out for a month and half travelling to the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur and I'm praying that I'll be able to take some pics with my new lens by that time.

I take it you're talking about the PocketWizard Plus II? You'll need one for your camera and one for each flash unit. They're tranceivers so they can be interchanged as transmitters or receivers. You should be able to find some used Plus IIs for a good price now that the IIIs are coming out.

Would it be any different with the IIIs? Thanks Rap.

Niketalk hasn't been working for me at least in the last few days. Recent stuff, photo dump.

Did you get a deal? I am in the market.
I paid $880 for it when it retails for a little over 1200. If you're ok with going used, I've usually seen it around the 900ish area.

Damn! Well, I'm looking to sell off my gear also. My Canon 7D and a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. The Tokina is pretty much new out of the box (only been used a few times) and the 7D has been treated like a Princess, nothing like Cinderella. If anyone is interested, let me know. Either separate or as a bundle, thanks fellas.

Thats the reason I'm selling....only reason I got with nikon is because my mkii was failing me in the focus dept when shooting kids...

Not like I have the money anyways, but how much are you selling the 14-24mm lens? That is like my dream setup since I like wide-angle.

Man, I am in a weird position cause I am getting like $2000 coming soon and I don't know if I should finish up my tattoo or save it for a D800. I want the Mark 3 but I could even stay with Nikon just based on how the D800 is $500 less and that can get me a lens for the D800 even if it would be a 50mm. I need to rob more liquor stores or something. Hate being so strapped on cash.
