Are you listening to yourself? You're defending a signing which only the VERY elite of the league deserve by saying that he hit a couple of big shots. So the ##%% what??? People whose contract are worth 5 times less than Rashard's have hit some big shots. The guy is supposed to deliver every time he steps on the court, but I'm not even sure if he's a top 75 player in the league. "Always seem to hate on Shard"?
And your "he got them to the Finals" argument is so ridiculous. That's like if prior to the 08-09 season the Lakers signed Derek Fisher to a 100+ mil contract and you defended that signing by saying "Well, they won the championship with him and he hit some big shots". And at least Fisher won, this guy went invisible for most of the finals, when he should've dominated and won Finals MVP for the money he was signed for.

All-Star center fielder Vernon Wells agreed Friday night to a seven-year, $126 million contract extension with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Wells' pact, the sixth-largest in baseball history, would give him a $25.5 million signing bonus, no-trade clause and guarantee him the right to opt out of his contract after four years. In addition, he could earn bonuses of $250,000 for MVP, $200,000 for World Series MVP, $150,000 for league championship series MVP and $100,000 for receiving the most votes in his league in All-Star game balloting.
Stats since the day he signed that before this year:
2007 - 149 G, 85 R, 36 2B, 16 HR, 80 RBI, .245 AVG, .304 OBP, .402 SLG
2008 - 108 G, 63 R, 22 2B, 20 HR, 78 RBI, .300 AVG, .343 OBP, .496 SLG
2009 - 158 G, 84 R, 37 2B, 15 HR, 66 RBI, .260 AVG, .311 OBP, .400 SLG
Money still owed to him:
2010 - $21 million
2011 - $23 million

We had an idiot (J.P Riccardi) running the jays at that time so you can blame him. It boggles my mind that he last 8 years with the Jays. I remember when he first came to the Jays he got rid of Orlando Hudsonbecause he called him a " pimp".
Anyways, that Vernon deal is absolutely horrible, we have no way of moving him. Hopefully he can contribute and atleast provide some value or its gonna be a long 4 years. But it ain't like the jays are gonna win anything anytime soon...
