I think the new gen of nters like tan so much because it relates to the internet they grew up with.
Everything online is competing to be the all -in- one destination.
A fractal of that has been created within this website.
I've been on NT coming up on a decade and the general forum is noticeably different.
It's slowed down tremendously.
I'm not hating on TAN, just trying to aware people of it's effects.

i dont see why NT would want to create something that takes away from general when twitter/facebook/instagram is doing it EVERY SECOND.
messageboard platform is a system that THRIVES on long form posts, when you errode that for ******** that TAN does you take away from
general's abilities to make more thoughtful thread where you actually participate in critical thinking and thoughtful discussion.

Well start a thread about critical thinking and stop worrying about it.
It's been said before, if something IS thread worthy and warrants efficient discussion then it WILL be made and it WILL succeed.
The race discussions are what's REALLY ruining NT, if y'all want something to complain about.

This along with people caring about reps is why general is kinda lame....
It's just the Internet though, so it was never really something to care about....

Histronics aside, it's really not causing that much damage. Meth showed you at the time that threads were still being created and topics were moving at the same pace as prior. After he cracked down and the sports, music, etc. talk in there was stopped, it hasn't really been producing thread worthy topics every hour.
Seriously, go in there the last few pages at any point in time and you're not seeing thread worthy topics being discussed. When there is something, it's usually encouraged to be made into it's own thread. So your argument might shift to "All the discussion in there could and should go elsewhere on Niketalk", and sure... if it regularly had 100+ contributors posting, then their efforts could go elsewhere, but it's really not that much. It's a couple dozen (at most) regulars going back and forth.
Personally, I don't like when it becomes just a chat for a small group, because that's what Twitter or a chat room is for. But you and I have been here long enough to know people have been saying "General has fallen off" for years now. And that happened before that thread was created, so it's perfectly logical that it'll happen after it's created. If that thread didn't exist, people would still have that complaint.

me BY MYSELF had da concept of TAN questioned and locked for week..what do you think is gonna happen when more and more people
start to become hostile to da thought of that wack **** still existing? writings on da walls b
when apple came out with a GARBAGE *** map for iphone and they stripped google maps, da customers didn't just chalk it up to "meh times
change..." nah be they PROTESTED and apple apologized and gave them back google maps.
da tan hostility is only mounting as general continues its downward spiral and people are noticing. you can continue to dismiss our disenting
opinions as fodder, but meth already locked it once, and if it continues to draw away energy from da rest of general he'll do it again..hopefully for good.
things aren't unlike phones with different UI's..tinkering with da wrong **** can TANK da whole ****, so yes it does matter b.

It reminds me of my old forums random thoughts thread. Funny as hell sometimes, dumb other times. The only thing I really hate about it is too much stuff gets drowned in it, like u ask something in it and it dont get answered because a 1000000 other ppl jus posted in it within them minutes lol. But even thats not really that serious. I dont get the hate for it tho...
