Toll going up.

Yea, but at $4 bucks they were making enough and more to cover maintenance costs.  The raise is to cover the new bay bridge because it's going to cost nearly double of what they thought would have cost to build.

No, the raise is going to help cover the construction costs for the seismic retrofits 2-3 other bridges are going to be needing.

carpool for $2.50 ftl.

i should get a break for bringing people with me to cross a bridge. i am saving the environment a lil bit by doing so...

Stop coming into the City if you can't afford it

Seriously.

The GG and Bay Bridge both require a TON of regular maintenance and repairs. All the time, for small wear and tear type things. Both bridges actually are a huge financial problem because they cost so much money. OF COURSE the fees will go up to compensate for those costs.

I know some of ya'll think this is the City messing up or that this is government crap; I know sometimes that's right. But the bridges are expensive and charging to cross it is a legitimate cost.

This is a state issue, not a city or federal issue.
The increase is taking place to help pay for retrofitting other Bay Area bridges.
The Golden Gate Bridge is not state owned, it doesn't get affected by the hike.

Where are you getting your info?

officials say the revenue is needed to pay for seismic strengthening of the Antioch and Dumbarton bridges, and because of declining bridge traffic and toll revenue and the rising cost of borrowing money.

Declining bridge traffic and toll revenue? really...I wonder why?
