lets compile a list of the top  hip hop songs from the 90s or late 80s...before all these lames came on the scene. I figure this can be a place where children can come and appreciate the roots of the music.

I came up with the idea while listening to "same song" by digital underground so here we go, we can make an order later but as of now im just gonna throw some out.

I KNOW A BUNCH ARE MISSING!!

**for those of you wanting to expand your music arsenal check out this list we've compiled. there are some awesome throwbacks in here**

*****also if you feel a song does not deserve to be up here, just say which song and why, lets give these youngsters the cream of the crop*********

Nas - Memory lane twice...aint that dope lol jk

i wished they number them so we can argue...lol

Too many flaws to point out in this list but I'll just go with SWV is not Hip-Hop.

While this is true, the "Anything (Remix)" w/the Wu is an R&B/Hip Hop classic so I can see why that would make the cut.

You know Wu-Tang's "Triumph" should be on there.

Three 6 & old Cash Money better have made that list

Haha! Trust me that's only a portion of how all kinds of wrong this list is.

Not only have we've done something like this several times in this forum but to think creating a list now with how you started it off is just pathetic. Plus a lot of your list seems focused on singles for albums and not overall classic songs.

1 Pun song?

1 De La Soul song? %!@+$ don't you know the stakes is high?

No Big Daddy Kane?

No Ghostface Killah?

Full Clip? Man if that's your only example from Gangstarr you really haven't heard anything, my dude Put "Hard to Earn" on and just sit back; same goes for Both of Jeru da Damaja's first 2 albums (Remember "Come Clean"? CLASSIC!) and Group Home's first album
basically anything off Tribe Called Quests "Low End Theory" or "Midnight Murauders" albums not to mention the classics "Can I Kick It?", "Bonita Applebum" "I left My Wallet in El Segundo" from the first album. INI f/Pete Rock "Fakin' Jacks"

Wu Tang Clan- Protect Ya Neck, Wu Tang Clan Ain't Nothin to F$#K With
Onyx- Throw Ya Guns, SLAM!
KRS-ONE- Outta Here
Brand Nubian- All For One, Slow Down; Punks Jump Up (after Puba split)
Biz Markie- Nobody Beats the Biz
...man, I don't even want to keep going cause I'd be here for days

okay well instead if criticizing it and not adding anything just shows how negative you are, how about you add insightful contributions so it can IMPROVE...

so on that note, just say what needs to go and what needs to be added do a format like so

(artist) - (song)

and i will gladly add it

@jthagreat- ahha i didnt even catch that, thanks tho, i fixed it. and i was exhausted trying to pull them off the top of my head and playlist, i didnt even want to think about numbering them yet

@y2kingsfan - i forgot all about quik, hah tonite brings back so many memories, i was never a fan of born and raised in compton but i added it too
