Transit Police Question

So yesterday I didn't have any money on me so I decided to do the old go behind someone trick at the metro. Anyways I got caught and was given a $50 ticketand I have to appear in court. Has this happened to anyone and does anyone know if this is going to go on my criminal record or anything?? BTW this was in PGCounty Maryland.

nah man, be easy, its just a ticket. not a summons to appear in court, not citation to appear in court, just a fine. pay it and keep it movin, wont show up ona criminal record.

Nah the officer who gave me the ticket said the summons will come in the mail. The actual ticket says if I don't show up I will have a warrant out for myarrest. I don't think it will show on my record either tho if I go and pay it off.

Of course you'd have a warrant out, your being summoned. Just pay the ticket & go to court. Judge will probably use scared straight tactics on you thenyou'll pay the court costs and its over. Your record should remain clean. But word to the warriors, never stop until your on the train.

I've got a brother who is a transit police commander. The judge will have you serve about 5 hours in the lock-up. The message they want to send is that youcan't take advantage of a cash-strapped transit system. They will also ban you from transit for a period of 14 days so that you can think about the dumb#%%# that you did. Be careful when you are doing your 5 hours in lock-up, because the Toss Salad Man is alive and well......................

i hardly ever ride metro nowadays but when i worked at the library of congress a lil while back i took metro everyday and whenever i was short on funds id pullthis trick.


its all about timing

and the person in front of you gotta be a exact distance away, and if they trip or get hungup in the turnstyle thingy itll mess youup too

Dude not only are you gonna get a $50 ticket, but you might get a misdemeanor theft charge. I only had a $10 bill and didn't have enough change to pay outmy exit fare so I talked to the employee in the booth. She took me to a cop and told me that he could write me a ticket and give me a misdemeanor theft charge.Eventually, she let me go with a warning.

For future reference next time you try to pull that trick, pull out your wallet and run it over the smartrip icon on the top of the gate as you closely followthe person in front of you out, thus the appearance of you having a smartrip card as opposed to just breaking through.

PARADA45....I feel for you with the $50 ticket.but try this one on. 2 weeks ago,headin to work,got off at gallery place. card was 35 cents short. usually metrodudes will be cool and let u slide thru if its less than 50

cents and u only have $20 on u. dude gave long ++# speech about how its something they been dealing with lately called FAIR FRAUD (%@*). basically said its onereason they raised metro prices and its a $150 fine,no

questions asked if you do it.exit fair doesnt give change for 20's,which is all i had,and he actually tried to stop me from askin other people for change!im thinkin hes joking. dude calls transit over to explain. im like F

it cuz im late for work now. so i tell them,keep the card and my $20 and il go. wrong, dudes try to press me out to sign for the fine and said i cant bribethem.(seriously %@*). they also said if u dont sign,they search

your name and will bring it to ur job or mail it to you. (yeah right) i basically told them it was such bs,i dont know how thats fraud in there eyes. refusedto give them my gov name and once i showed cop and metro

dude i was dailing my lawyer,they got pissed and let me off with warning. dc is def on there get money #%!. think they made more than 4.5 million of trafficlight cam tickets alone. all that money,no good changes for the people.
