When in career mode can you transfer weight classes?

Im in Light Heavy Weight now and have had the Title for a minute now. I want to transfer to heavyweight, can i do that or do i need to make a new character?

He needs to be wearing an affliction/ed hardy tee, have gelled hair, tribal armband tattoos, and drink full throttle energy drinks.. Then you can move up.

I've played a couple of career modes and I don't think you can switch weight classes. I bet next year's game will have that feature though.

i think its been confirmed that you can NOT switch weight classes. which isn't surprising from THQ being that cant even release a damn patch to fix theonline quitting.
