Is it a violation for an urban account store to raise the price on its shoes.

MSRP = Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price

They can pretty much do whatever they want with the price.

That's what I thought, I was just hoping it wasn't the case.

JB obviously doesn't care about the "price gouging" going on with their products. Look at stores like R Sole selling the Titanium 23's for$500, they more then tripled what they profit SHOULD have been. Greedy store owners can do whatever they want and JB doesn't give a crap!!! It rare whenyou get a store like Shoe Palace in the Bay Area that sells their Jordans for UNDER msrp so with tax it comes out to around the msrp OUT THE DOOR!!!

The things that drives me nuts is a store near me that puts fake prices on everything, crosses them out, then puts the MSRP on the shoe as if it's aspecial discounted price.

For instance, the Jordan 8 Retros said $160, had that crossed out, then said $139.99. The Spiz'ikes said $205. They do that on ALL their shoes the secondthey hit the shelf. I mean, it says the correct MSRP right on the box for crying out loud!!! How stupid do they think we are?

On several occasions I've almost asked the manager why they do it, but it's pointless to start an argument over it. Especially considering they'rethe only place in my area that gets certain stuff, so I don't want to piss them off.

Actually I herd that the area reps do get pissed if the stores price is high and it does go into consideration when evaluating accounts.

they can do whatever they want with the price, except nike won't let them go lower than the MSRP on air forces, and maybe a few other styles

I wish. We've been in business with Nike for nearly 20 years (always retail) and we still get ripped on releases. If stores sell for more thanretail it just means they've got more money for under the table stuff.

Im glad we have never had this problem at Sport Seasons in Tennessee. We always sell for MSRP.
What sucks is Tennessee has a 9.25% sales tax. There have been plenty of releases where we knew we
could upcharge but decided against it.Same reason we do not reserve shoes.First come, first serve.
Everyone has the same oppurtunity to get their size at retail. Thanks Tennessee for keeping us in
business for 20 years strong.....just felt like throwing that at you.

They can do whatever they want to do in actuality, simple as that.

the thing is i know they can sell it 4 whatever price they want but y cant they sell it when ever they receive it. (cant they only reease it on release day)and if they do they risk losing the account. sounds very stupid to me

Actually, if the store is apart of a corporation then it is in violation to sale for any price other than MSRP unless noted otherwise (sales, discounts, etc.)However if a store is a franchise then they do not have to follow the pricing guidelines set by the corporation. Sneaker Villa in Pittsburgh used to do thesame thing (sold Grapes for $170 when I called the headquarters (no snitch just wanted the sneakers I waited 4hrs for) they said that since that particularstore was a franchise that they couldn't do anything about it. They eventually went out of business anyway.lol

N I hate the fact we can't do anythin about it.... but copp or bit*h n let the next jordan fiend copp

Theres a store out here in seattle that I've heard you had to buy a matching tee at least just to cop yourself a pair!!!

That would officially tick me off. Most of the time I have just barely enough to get the kicks. Being forced to spend another $25+ for a tee isabsurd!
I wonder what would happen if you just went and tried to take the shirt back the next day?

I'm guessing that wouldn't go over very well.

You should be more ticked at stores that make you buy the matching clothing in order to buy the shoes since they know theclothes won't sell on their own. Even Footactions are guilty to a point, trying to make people buy cleaner or socks on a RD because they have enoughcustomers in store to sell to the next person if you don't do it.

I hate this me and my brother dished out $350 for Altitudes means to the hype,

at Big Mikes in Duncanville TX.......

that happned down here in Houston when the fire red V's came out raise prices up to 175-185 it was pretty insane...people still bought it due to thehype...

can I get an urban account and have them to ship shoes in my size to me for that wholesale price

It is againt the law for Nike to force any retailers to sell for any set amount...thus the "suggested" retail...corporation or otherwise...ifFinishline were to sell the Jordan 23's for $500 they could...Nike can't lawfully do anything about...

Now...whether or not they "punish" them (which would be illegal) in the future for doing such a thing would be up to them (say...by not giving themfuture releases)...again, major violation of trade laws...

It is actually against the law for any vendor to talk with any retailer about what they are charging for products outside of the "suggested"retail...
