I knew of someone who would smuggle illegal animals,

He kept a freshwater stingray as a pet. He was cleaning his tank one day and got stung. Dude rushed to the hospital and they misunderstood what had happened to him and thought it was a "Bee" sting. He ended up passing out on the ground, his hand is scarred from the nerve damage.

I knew a pet shop that kept a cobra as some novelty item. Just to show it off. Well the new owner that took over the pet store was relocating the snake and got bit. He posted pictures of his thumb and hand during the healing process. His thumb is now a nub.
