What are effective ways to fix a skipping DVD?

I looked online and found these tutorials that suggest toothpaste and rubbing alcohol. I tried both but neither worked. And some even crazier ones like peanut butter and soda. SO anything that really works?

THanks

thanks smart guy

ahh try rubbing lotion all over it and then wipe it off with a very soft cloth that sometimes works

i got my skip doctor at best buy for $25.. still kinda expensive .. but it really works and i use it a lot for my dvds/cds.

toothpaste works only if it has an abrasive like baking soda in it.

alternatively...just get some baking soda and warm water..and make a slurry...use a toothbrush to "sand" away the scratches.

Pony up the $10-20 you'd spend toward a $30 machine and just cop a new one.

DVD's don't cost a thing anymore bro.
