What GPS Navigation System to buy?

I am looking to buy a GPS Navigation system. Pretty much want to get the most bang for my buck since I don't know much about these systems. Tried to do some research and look at the reviews, but they got so many out there. From what I see though, leaning towards either the Tom Tom XL 340 or Garmin Nuvi 205W. Any recommendations on whats out there?

I have the Garmin and its been pretty good to me so far

I dont bother with GPS phone apps

I forgot to add it for my parents, so GPS on the phone is out of the question
