I really want to install a larger volume hard drive in my PS3. What is the best hard drive to consider?

anything from western digital would work. make sure it's a 2.5 inch laptop drive.

5400 or 7200 doesn't really make too much difference, but i can tell you that the drive in there from factory is 7200rpm. it's a 2.5 inch drive asexplained above, and it's a Serial ATA.
Seagate and other companies are getting ready to release a 1TB 2.5 inch drive, but it's going to be of a form factor too big to fit into the PS3.
make sure you get a 9mm height, and it'll be fine.

I stream a lot of hd movies and tv shows.When I like it I save it on the hard drive. 1080p and 720p movies take up alot of space. Especially if you get the whole set. Example. I have all the Star Warsmovies in 1080p. That's 48gig right there. On top of the demos, game installs, extra.
Factor in PS3 is supposed to be supported for another 4-5 years. You can fill up a hard drive quick.

Plus I have The Dark Knight blu-ray on there, with IMAX changing scenes
