XIIs were fantastic retros - they greatly improved the cushioning and weight! Only flaw with some of the retros was that the paint would chip off.
Now when u asked the closest pretty much only the 94 retro 1s those are pretty much the only ones u can get mixed up unless u look really close

excluding the 94s or 99s id have to say the 13 and 14. the 12 which is one of my favorites is no where near imo. its better in cushioning,but built a little less stout compared to the orginal. thinner , flimsier leather. although they wrinkle alot less,still feels less supportive over all. i also noticed a change in height. retros are a little shorter. the rubber toe cap that surrounds the front of the shoe is also noticablely shorter on the retro. i got some size 11 heat,deadstock. get at me
