Why are so many youtube personality channels homogenous?

The format and even the thumbnail art is very similar. Has YT given people a template to go off of? Or did someone popular do it first and then it became popular?

Like in my recommendations a few different call of duty vids show up

Different channels, yet all the templates have the same background and layout and font etc

im pretty sure channels use their own templates. and yah it gets annoying since its not always exactly what youre gonna see in the video.
