Why do Some People ADD an R to The End of A Word?

I think this is strictly a east coast thing (because ive mostly heard people from boston/new york do this)... why do some people say, for example... Americar,paprikar, idear? the word doesnt end in an "R!"

the funny thing is that the people who do that are the same ones who say "cah" (car) and "wahta" (water)

its like they get confused when using Rs haha
