Based on Jeff Pearlman's book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s, the series tells the story of the rise of Magic Johnson (Quincy Isaiah) and the lengths that businessman Jerry Buss will go in pursuit of securing a basketball dynasty; take a look here

Saw some of it. Was cool

Magic was getting played and jerked around.

Not sure if I like the 70s style cinematography though. It’s okay at times but distracting in others.

Intriguing for sure after Ep1. Framing and breaking the 4th wall took some getting used too. Can already tell it’s going to be pretty good.

1st episode was good.

Been waiting on a show like this. Glad it's on HBO.

The casting for Magic and Kareem is spot on

Bunch of dope scenes in the first episode. The negotiation scenes, the nail salon scene, the white party with sterling , Buss's euphoria on the court after making the purchase, West's face at the draft . The editing in this show sucks tho. When buss left magic in the tunnel the camera was facing buss as he was talking. Then they flipped to the reverse angle and his mouth obviously wasn't even moving . Other than that it was solid

Pilot :pimp:

The characterization of Jerry West  :pimp:

West saying what it was like for him being the Star and face of the lakers was great

Winning Time Pilot was ok. Kinda corny & dated. Felt like something from the mid to late 10s, especially with John C Reilly playing Dr. Buss,
The narration and breaking of the 4th wall.

Going to see how tame it is. Cuz 80s Lakers was even wilder than you can imagine. And all them dudes are still living, and want to be seen in the best light possible.

Norm Nixon character was the most intriguing to me. They did a great job with the Kareem casting too
