EDIT: And after you move and or delete alot of things off of your machine, you should perform a chkdsk, to do this, go to the start menu, and select run, when the "run" box comes up type in: cmd, and hit the enter button. a command prompt screen will show up, in there type in: chkdsk /f /x /r, it'll break down all bad sectors and repair them to make them usable again. it'll tell you it will be performed when the machine restarts, say y. next time you reboot it'll take an hour or two to complete.
It's not even that really, I mean yeah ok 30 gigs of music slows it down, but that's all else I have on here plus the stock programs.Originally Posted by oidreez

Na and I'm not putting any money into this laptop because I bought a new Asus netbook last week. I just need this comp to be in better shape for music/movies.
Probably the same ones on your computer.Originally Posted by Mastamind89

Because that would give me 30 gigs back after I put my music back on my laptop. I wanna get rid of all that useless crap that's on here killing all my memory.Originally Posted by FlipnKraut

wait hold on. i think you need to learn a little bit before you start doing anything. do you know what reformatting is? you realize its going to delete everything you have on your computer and put just the operating system back on right? if the purpose of you reformatting is to get back hard drive space why are you going to move your data to an external drive, reformat and move the stuff back on. you'll be right back where you are right now will no hard drive space left....

download ccleaner.com
1. run it
2. use cleaner
3. then registry cleaner (click no when asks to save)
4. then go to tools- system restore - right click and delete all the files.
5.also download auslogic defrag - run it.
i did this to my friends a few daysago and cleared up 32 gigs of memory
