BREAKING NEWS: ECW Brand to Discontinue & Rebrand
Posted by: Wrestling-Radio.com

- The news wire is abuzz with the news that there are MAJOR changes coming for the ECW brand in 2010. Sources have indicated that the ECW brand will be dropped and re-branded in its current timeslot.

UPDATE: Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com has confirmed that WWE had a meeting with Syfy regarding a re-branding and the 'ECW' letters may be gone.

More Soon.

UPDATE: A new brand would almost certainly focus of the younger talent filtering through from FCW which has become the case over the past year.

It appears that the ECW brand is not representing the current product all that well after all it is not 'extreme' any more. WWE took the decision some time ago to refer to the product as simply ECW with no emphasis on the 'extreme'.

WWE brought ECW back in 2006 in an attempt to draw back the original and tried to replicate the original ECW however a number of creative changes were made and it become a much more watered down product and many of the original fans resented what ECW become as opposed to getting hooked on the WWE product.

I think it would be good to finally see the brand officially represent the younger talent and really make it the selling point for the brand.

Good to see them finally put ECW to rest. It should have never been brought back to begin with.

Maybe it will become WCW. It cant bury the "good name" of WCW anymore that champion david arquette did.

I just hope it gets a 2nd hour and a midcard title so that it'll feel like a legit brand, but for the young guys to shine.

But why the ReBranding now? They didn't notice after the 1st year...it fell off? Kurt...Beniot...RVD ECW had a mean spark when it started they dropped theball repeatedly..then letting Burke fade...SMH

So much could be said about what the E did with ECW.

Yikes. I liked Umaga too... great athleticism for somebody his size, and that press into Samoan Drop was crazy. RIP

Ahh yes, William Regal provided a whole new level of appreciation for the guy. I was looking forward to Umanga's return to WWE.

Very underrated in the ring, and he was partly responsible for unleashing the greatness of Armando Alejandro Estrada. RIP Youmanga.
