I'm sorry, aside from nostalgia and longevity I don't see how the 90's animated series > Evolution. Maybe I just like better animation and non-corny lines.

I don't think this show was "canceled". The Apocalypse storyline was probably the end of the show. At the end of the last show of that arc, Prof. X went into a whole monologue about the future of the X-Men. It showed clips of what they would look like in the future and showed Jean turning into Pheonix, and all types of crazy !***.
