I'm cutting and pasting this so I'm not claiming 100% accuracy (because I don't read garbage like Rolling Stone Magazine except maybe if I'm stuck in an airport) but if he said this, god bless him as he's right on the friggin' money:
Chris Rock: Music kind of sucks. Nobodys into being a musician. Everybodys getting their mogul on. Youve been so infiltrated by this corporate mentality that all the time youd spend getting great songs together, youre busy doing nine other things that have nothing to do with art. You know how @#%$ Stevie Wonders songs would have been if he had to run a @#%$ clothing company and a cologne line?
RollingStone: Plenty of rappers say, Im not a rapper, Im a businessman.
Chris Rock: Thats why rap sucks, for the most part. Not all rap, but as an art form its just not at its best moment. Sammy the Bull would have made a @#%$ album. And I dont really have a desire to hear Warren Buffetts album - or the new CD by Paul Allen. Thats what everybodys aspiring to be.
We live in a weird time. No one knows whos smart - we just know who makes money. Hey, somebody invented Viagra! We dont know their name, but we know Pfizer, because they make the money. That guy made a pill that keeps your @#%$ hard, and nobody knows who the @#%$ he is. The pharmaceutical companies are like @#%$ record companies. Theres literally the Bo Diddley of medicine walking around, not getting his royalties. He signed all his @#%$ pill publishing away.
