Yet another reason why I love Chris Rock

I'm cutting and pasting this so I'm not claiming 100% accuracy (because I don't read garbage like Rolling Stone Magazine except maybe if I'm stuck in an airport) but if he said this, god bless him as he's right on the friggin' money:

Chris Rock: Music kind of sucks. Nobodys into being a musician. Everybodys getting their mogul on. Youve been so infiltrated by this corporate mentality that all the time youd spend getting great songs together, youre busy doing nine other things that have nothing to do with art. You know how @#%$ Stevie Wonders songs would have been if he had to run a @#%$ clothing company and a cologne line?

RollingStone: Plenty of rappers say, Im not a rapper, Im a businessman.

Chris Rock: Thats why rap sucks, for the most part. Not all rap, but as an art form its just not at its best moment. Sammy the Bull would have made a @#%$ album. And I dont really have a desire to hear Warren Buffetts album - or the new CD by Paul Allen. Thats what everybodys aspiring to be.

We live in a weird time. No one knows whos smart - we just know who makes money. Hey, somebody invented Viagra! We dont know their name, but we know Pfizer, because they make the money. That guy made a pill that keeps your @#%$ hard, and nobody knows who the @#%$ he is. The pharmaceutical companies are like @#%$ record companies. Theres literally the Bo Diddley of medicine walking around, not getting his royalties. He signed all his @#%$ pill publishing away.

Chris Rock ALWAYS speaks the truth.

He has some valid claims up there but iono if every rapper is like that. Only mainstream, CR needs to diversify his CD changer.
Another one bites the dust!

I actually like Diddy... if more rapper tried to be like Diddy hiphop probably be in a better state... I know its hard to comprehend but dude is the reason for alot of shhhh... from Mary J to Biggie to now the production on AG (amazing) - check the credits

Diddy is more hiphop then a lot of these new young cats... I think he deserves more credit then he gets.

I agree with what Chris Rock is saying but these guys are not just artist because they have learned from the mistakes of the pioneers of Hiphop. They are not trying to go broke because they are not hot anymore or the last album did not sell. They are diversifying and branding themselves in order to have longevity(financialy). The reason why most people first album are considered the best is the distraction of success and money isnt there. They just trying to tell their story or their view of the world for their perspective. The large companies totally control the music therefore they are not looking for true artist anymore they are looking for the next fool that can provide them disposable music(fast food music) and yield profit.
