Ha, I guess we both thought the same in each others respective gyms.

I wore the 1's and 2's heavily on the hardwood when they first released. People didn't know what I had on.

Many of my friends had the Kobe I. I remember when the shoe went to outlets and was able to get the blackouts for very cheap. Miss that colorway.

I know a lot of people that had a different shoe that was exactly like the Kobe 1's but were cheaper and a takedown model.

Just really hoping that it's not super-cheap materials and bizarre CWs. I know that this is Nike's basic gameplan these days, but as a fan of the shoes and of Kobe, and retros from his signature line would be most appreciated in their original form.

Wearing the MPLS CW today myself, and the quality is still great, the materials feel great, and the shoe is super comfortable. And given the size of the silhouette (ie - not a low top), it's not a heavy shoe at all. Yes it's heavier than 4-8, but it's BUILT to be heavier, rather than the stripped-down, super lightweight profile shoes that have dominated the line more recently.

Do it right Nike, or don't do it at all. I don't want EM or Flyknit or any other random tech that wasn't there before. Save that for when you retro the newer ones that actually used flywire and so on.

(This plea will fall on deaf ears, won't it?)

Top 5 shoe to hoop in personally. Please give us a decent bunch of colorways, have the quality on point and price tag not sky high.

would empty my bank account for a pair of flyknit V's as long as the cushion and tech is exactly like the original.

That "prelude" makes me think these may be the new venomenom or something...but appreciated if it is a retro. All I have is ASGs

If Nike does a flyknit version of 1-6 I will weep tears of joy.

If not I'll gladly take retro's, just hope the colorways aren't too crazy.

Sign me up for these if "BlackOuts" drop. My size 11 had a hole on them for repeated use.

Do you guys remember Nike doing something similar in 2009 when Kobe Won his 4th Championship and the Nike Website had something about the Kobe 1s. It was odd at the time because Kobe wore the IVs. If anybody has a screenshot or a link where a pic was provided post it please. I know many nike kobe fans know this

^I really can't remember Nike doing anything special with the ZK1s in 2009, but I know the Premium Goods colorway dropped as a hyperstrike on 8/8/2008, same start day as the '08 Olympics. Only 8 pairs in NY and 8 pairs in Houston released, where the PG shops are located, or something like that. If somebody else remembers any more details, feel free to chip in.

They also did a QS release in '08 of the China exclusive ZK1s, which were very similar to the Premium Goods colorway.

Not sure if that's what you're referring to.

Nah it had nothing to do with Premium Goods. Im talking right after Kobe won the Championship. It had a few words and then in the middle below had Zoom Kobe 1 or something like that. I remember seeing a vid on youtube of someone talking about it. I can't find that vid anywhere now. People were saying rumors like "Should Kobe 1s be retro'ed because he won the championship" sounds crazy but i know someone might remember this. I know im not the only one.

Interesting to think where the Kobe line would be had the rape allegations never happened. If I remember correctly the Huarache 2k4 was originally intended to be Kobes first signature shoe with Nike but they decided to remove his name due to the bad publicity at the time.

I don't remember them doing anything special with the ZK1 like that. Were they just showcasing the Kobe 1-4 in honor of his championship?

The last thing I can remember them doing is a scavenger hunt for the 81 point colorway, but I don't remember what year that was.

They also did one of those showcase things recently of the Kobe 1-8 - the ZK1 on display was that 81pt colorway.

wooow, i haven't been this excited  for a sneaker "retroing" since the early 2000's in jb's glory days..... i remember passing on the last shot 14's for the  black/ maize colorway, im pretty sure he debuted them against the miami heat in dec of '05[IMG]  ( someone post that video lol) .......i actually ordered so many pairs of the blackouts  from different factory stores that i memorized  the style# and color code , 313143-014... *that's literally off the top of my head* [IMG]   what if they did the whole 1-6 thing and put them on nikeid?? [IMG]

I think people should temper their expectations for these though. For all we know that Prelude tag might mean it's some kind of Frankenstein monstrosity of a shoe. If there's one thing I've learned from Nike/Jordan Brand over the years, it's to prepare for the worst when it comes to anything retro related

I know what he's talking about. It was a vote between six boutiques that commissioned their own colorway of the ZK1. The design I voted on was similar to the Stash collab but it had 3 NBA championships on the shoe.

^That happened before '09 though. Premium Goods was the winner. @kobe24 is talking about something else entirely if I'm following correctly...

Yes it was in 09. Not 08'. I remember it clearly. It could've been a typo on Nike's part. Because i remember the page was posted right away after Kobe won his 4th ring in 2009 against Dwight Coward and the Magic. I remember this. I was hoping someone would've remembered. It might've been a rare mistake on Nike's part.
