Merry Christmas? Ugandan Speaker of Parliament promises the draconian anti-gay (Kill the gays) bill will pass before the end of 2012, and will be a Christmas gift for Uganda’s Christian community.

On Monday, November 12, Ugandan Speaker Rebecca Kadaga told The Associated Press that Uganda's anti-gay bill will be passed before the end of 2012 despite vigorous and vocal international criticism of the odious legislation.

Kadaga insists it is what most Ugandans want: Ugandans "are demanding it," she said.

Last Friday Kadaga met with Ugandan anti-gay activists who spoke of "the serious threat" posed by homosexuals to Uganda's children. Some Christian clerics at the meeting in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, asked the speaker to pass the law as "a Christmas gift."

Gay Star News reports the law will broaden the criminalization of same-sex relationships by dividing homosexuality into two categories; aggravated homosexuality and the offense of homosexuality. ‘Aggravated homosexuality’ is defined as gay acts committed by parents or authority figures, HIV-positive people, pedophiles and repeat offenders. If convicted, they will face the death penalty. The ‘offense of homosexuality’ includes same-sex sexual acts or being in a gay relationship, and will be prosecuted by life imprisonment.

Uganda to officially pass ‘Kill The Gays’ bill

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga has said 2009's Anti-Homosexuality Bill will become law by the end of 2012
12 NOVEMBER 2012 | BY JOE MORGAN

Uganda will officially pass the ‘Kill The Gays’ bill at the end of this year despite international criticism.

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga said the anti-gay bill will become law by December since most Ugandans ‘are demanding it’.

Referring to the law as a ‘Christmas gift’ to the population, she spoke of ‘the serious threat’ posed by homosexuals.

The law will broaden the criminalization of same-sex relationships by dividing homosexuality into two categories; aggravated homosexuality and the offense of homosexuality.

Originally put to government in 2009, the Anti-Homosexuality Bill had been temporarily shelved because of international criticism.

Several European countries have threatened to cut aid to Uganda if it passes, with the UK government warning Uganda it would face severe reductions in financial help.

US President Barack Obama has described it as ‘odious’, and Canadian politician John Baird has said it is ‘vile, abhorrent, and offends decency’.

Uganda lawmaker Atim Ogwal Cecilia Barbara has even suggested there should be a continent-wide ban on homosexuality, saying all African gay people should be jailed for life.

Gay rights activist David Kato was murdered in Uganda in January 2011 shortly after a local newspaper published images of him and other gay people under a headline urging readers to ‘hang them.’

Despite this, Uganda’s LGBT community held a weekend of gay pride events this summer.

According to a 2010 survey by The Pew Research Center, homosexuality is morally unacceptable to 89% of Ugandans.

what century do we live in? :smh:

dude in that poopoo video got extra graphic.

I didn't know they had an entire task force based on fighting homosexuality. my mind is boggled right now.

Yo that poo poo vid is on a whoooooole different level.

I can't say I'm shocked though. I mean we don't even have everyone in America on board with homosexuals.

I'm shocked but not surprised
shocked
past participle, past tense of shock (Verb)
Verb: Cause (someone) to feel surprised and upset: "she was shocked at his injuries"; "shocked onlookers watched as detectives broke into the pub".

for the first time in history, i think a majority of americans no longer have a problem with homosexuality. it will be interesting to see what effect that will have on politics in the near future... how much longer before it's not even a campaign issue any more? the tide is changing, and quickly.

yet this news from uganda suggests almost the opposite in that country. that video is an eye-opener... i wonder how the pastor would respond if i brought up the fact that everything he describes and shows in the video could be done by heterosexuals, too.

same country
SON!

I choked on an M&M watching this.

Not my country. Not my business.

The West would be well-advised to mind its own ******g business.

Not surprised.

And smh to anyone who is truly surprised and devastated etc. Uganda has a large reputation for their homophobia. In my view they even surpass Jamaica as the most homophobic place on earth.
Come on people, just read the news once in a while.

Not my country. Not my business.

The West would be well-advised to mind its own ******g business.

I agree. Though I am not homophobic, different cultures and people have different cultural norms and standards. So long as the legislation doesn't mess with a country's money I see no reason to step in.

Seriously ... Can anyone explain how gay hate is done?

I mean... Do they just roll up on a dude minding his own business and just kill him?

Like... For what reason, especially if folks are minding their own business ...

To me, if you're trying so damb hard to find some gay people, you're semi gay.
