The Official Mac Thread (Docs, Themes, Apps, Etc.)

Have you taken it to the genius bar yet? Could just be a bad hard drive, $100 fix then you could flip it for $600

How much you think I could get for a 2011 MacBook Pro 13? Won't turn on well it won't go past the apple logo screen.

Turn it on holding the option key, then select the recovery partition. Open up disk utility and hit repair disk. Might be able to save it

Tried turns off as soon as the screen to put my password comes up with out fail.

It's such a drag to bring it into an apple store plus my porn collection isn't even hidden it's on my home screen

:smh: I spilled jack and coke on my macbook Friday night. The cursor is acting erratic and the keys on the left side aren't working. FML

Traded in my mini today for the air....

Enjoying this a lot more so far.

upgraded my RAM to 8GB and my computer is more responsive than ever :smokin

going to cop the SSD next

I got 16gb of CRUCIAL brand ram for like $20 from the sony retail store before then closed all their stores down in march. Everything was marked 70-80% off

Took it right over to the apple store and they installed it for me

Needless to say, my MBP is on super saiyan level right now. Everything is maxed out now.

Now I just need to cop a SSD and swap out my optical drive for it so I can go full ****** with this thing

My trackpad is acting like it has a mind of its own....I have a 2011 MBP with Thurnderbolt... It is obviously out of warranty... Should I take it to Genuis Bar or to Best Buy or a Repair shop?

Are there any other certified apple repair spots in your area? I would do research on any other spots.

If not, I would trust the Genius Bar with open heart surgery before I let best buy touch my MBP.

Can anybody tell me whats going on with my phone when music when I sync it to my phone? I have a 5S and whenever I try to add songs from my itunes it gives me the option to sync my whole library or selected playlists. It won't show an option for syncing only checked songs, and whenever I choose the "sync entire library" I only get some songs onto my phone. I also have a lot of memory on my phone so it should be able to hold my whole library

The option to sync only checked songs is on the summary page. If you have manually manage music and videos checked take that off.

Alright fellas I need some guidance..

Mid-2010 MBP. Upgraded to 8GB ram on day one. Running like a champ until I've started putting pressure on it at work recently. I.e. Multiple office programs running at once with 10+ safari tabs. Anyways, it seizes up a lot now and requires hard power-downs.

Please help.

Candybar - to change icons of programs on the dock.

Appcleaner - Removes all files related to a program.

XBMC. - for streaming movies/tv shows.

Skype.

Tweetdeck.

jDownloader. - download accelerator.

The Unarchiver: open zips, rar, 7zip, etc files.

Evernote.

VLC or MxPlayer - for videos.

Dropbox.

Google Drive.

I don't think Candybar works anymore.

You can change your icons without it though.

Anyone upgrade to Yosemite? This thing is so unstable.. I told me I would receive performance issues so I'm going to let it sit then restart but I almost died when FCPX broke luckily theirs a work around but so far it isnt that pleasing to the eyes as it looked on WWDC. I am literally only using it because I could boost my productivity ALOT with the Handoff capabilities with IOS8

I'm using it but only for fun. I put it on a partition so that I did not upgrade my whole machine per say. I love the layout and look of it but as with any first beta, it's shaky and unstable.

Just copped a base 21.5" iMac. It comes with these specs:

21.5-inch: 2.7GHz
Specifications
2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i5
Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz
8GB (two 4GB) memory
1TB hard drive1
Intel Iris Pro graphics

I played around with it in the store and it seemed fast enough. I'm wondering if I should have upgraded to 16gb of ram though? I only use my computer for music, emails, and browsing (though I do have like 15 tabs open at any given time).

Also - am I going to regret not going with the 27" model? I felt like that size was just OD big and it's good if you're basically putting it on display in an open room, but mine is going in a nook in my crib. I guess I have 14 days to figure it out.
