The Official Mac Thread (Docs, Themes, Apps, Etc.)

Does the warranty cover accidental and water damage? Better check that out before you get your fraud on   .

Man, I want to max out my RAM but its still expensive if I buy them from Crucial. Smh.

Newegg is that spot when it comes to low priced computer stuff..

Sucks that my Air is un-upgradeable. It's the Summer '13 model so it should age well but I'm just stuck with 4GB of RAM until I get a new laptop :\.

Anyone used Time Machine? I'm using it for the first time to backup my computer and it's been backing up pretty slow. I don't even have 300gb of information.

The first time is slow because it is indexing everything. After that, it's pretty fast.

Looking into getting a Mac, wanted to know where I could find the best price and value? RIght now I'm leaning towards my campus tech store; $1344 for

13-inch with Retina display
2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz
8GB 1600MHz memory
256GB PCIe-based flash storage

Should I be leaning towards a 13" or a 15"? Don't really care about the retina display much.

Thanks NT

Yeah screen size is down to preference. I just happen to prefer 13".

I use mine at work where I deal with some massive spreadsheets and the size of the screen is no hindrance. Unless you're working with images or videos and you need a big screen/resolution, then I think 13" is perfect. Not too big and bulky as a 15", but not as tiny as an 11".

My friend had showed me these a while ago, have you guys tried them out?

Instead of just replacing your HDD with a SSD, you can use a data doubler kit and remove the superdrive (CD bay), install a small bracket there, and install the SSD there. Giving you 2 HDDS in your laptop. You can then buy an enclosure for your superdrive and make it essentially a USB CD/DVD drive for you to carry with you. I hardly use physical CDs anymore, so losing this drive really wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Here is the other site that sells the SuperDrive casing and everything together if you choose:

Finally came around and did it. My MacBook Pro is looking real brand new right now :smokin

Thanks

Interesting post. The link below also has a gif of how the display of this rumored iWatch is supposed to navigate but it was too large to post in the thread.

Apple iWatch Already in Production

1000

Apple’s iWatch is been in rumors for long and Apple fan boys are waiting for it affectionately, Now a report suggests that the iWatch is went into production already.

Reports of the highly anticipated device’s production run cropped up in the Tuesday edition of Taiwan-based China Times.

Citing sources in Apple’s supply chain in Asia, the site claims that part of the production includes advanced SiP (system-in-a-package) modules, which can contain a processor, DRAM and flash memory.

Such a module, used in mobile devices like MP3 players and smartphones, could be useful in producing a wearable computer. However the China Times report doesn’t offer further technical details beyond that.

It said the device will be released in the latter half of 2014, and that production of up to 3 million devices will began in the second quarter of this year, and will increase to 14 to 15 million in the third quarter.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has remained mum on whether the company will release a wearable device of any kind, his statements in recent months have consistently been peppered with comments about an exciting “new category” of product the company plans to release later this year.
