Official Toronto - Outlet and Store report

One time an employee said he can't refund my shoes because he will have less cash than when he started at the beginning of the day...

I never understood that logic. How is that a customer's problem...

That's a joke.. damn man really, how is that your issue lol. Usually the peeps where I go are cool never had an issue mind you I hate returning stuff

With a lot of retail stores, they can only have a certain amount of float (cash in the till) at the beginning of the day. Stores hardly keep extra cash for security/liability purposes. Because they need the cash in the till for other transactions, they will delay returns until at least midday so there's enough cash in the till to reliably continue operations and transact returns. Debit and cash is usually interchangeable so you always have that option. Visa/MC/AMEX are generally not.

For example, at a mobile phone retailer in a major mall we were only allowed to have $400 in our till, so when someone came at opening to return a $300 phone, we couldn't do it as we needed the cash to process other transactions (ie. bill payments, purchases, etc.)

What do you mean by bill payments? As in customers coming in to pay their bills? Or the retail store had to pay bills? If the store paying bills, why on earth would they pay via cash? No b2b vendor would generally insist on immediate payment in cash.

Customers coming into pay bills. From a corporate owned store's point of view. B2b transactions are done with corporate not each store.

Happened to me as well. I went to return a pair of Core Black 2.0's at Eaton FTL to make funds available for Black Toe 1's that I was buying off someone. It was almost embarrassing AF, as the dude I was meeting up with showed up to make the sale and I was arguing with the employees at the cash, til they figured out a solution (I think one employee was going to cover the other or something like that) and they finally gave me the cash for the return.

subjective question really

if you paid all ur bills, took care of everything u need to take care of during those two months then bought them, then u dont have a problem really tbh you work for your money, you should spend it how you want really.....

8-10 pairs in 2 months works out u bought a new pair every week approx

When you run out of space for shoes then yea it could be a problem lol!

Maybe you don't know exactly what you really want hence you just kept buying?
One pair a week isn't too bad but do you really NEED it is the real question.
Some true statements. One of my biggest pet peeves out there is when other people "watch" or judge how your money is spent. I'm not making an argument for frivolous spending and irresponsible spending (which many of us are guilty of) but rather that we work hard for our money so how we spend it is entirely our choice. I was raising the question just out of general interest because I can admit that I do buy things at times and later realize that I shouldn't have. I may even have slight shopping addiction because I love the feeling when you get a nice item for a deal. Obviously at the other hand, you can rationalize buying anything so it's a slippery slope to go down. What I've been trying to get better at is realizing that all these material things don't bring happiness. Maybe momentarily they do but once the novelty has worn off, it's on to what is the next thing you can buy. Sneakers/shoes is a fun but also very expensive hobby and I wouldn't expect anyone in here to hurl judgements of buying multiple pairs because a lot in here would have way more sneakers than are "needed".

Lately, I have changed how I purchase shoes. I use to buy shoes just because they are on sale and I kinda want them and the hype. Today, I have been looking at reviews especially for the quality of the shoes and if it reflects the price point *cough Jordan XV cough* Quality over quantity. I am also looking if I need another colourway of the same silhouette - Ultraboost. I have become very selective.

I also have a price point in my mind when it comes to buying from resellers.

Anyone else feel these Ultra Boost that were released yesterday (oreo or zebra - can't recall what they called em) fit a little snug compared to previous 3.0?

Not unusual.  Most places only keep a small amount of change so that they can make change for customers who pay in cash.  It's more for security.  When I worked at footlocker, it was the same thing.  If someone came at opening for a cash refund, we'd have to send them away and have them come back later in the day.  Even at the place I work at now, we do the same if we don't have the cash to cover a return, we have to tell them to come back or let us know in advance so that we can have the cash ready.

Maybe I'm not reading this correctly, but why would you need to have cash reserved for customers who are coming in to pay their bills? Wouldn't they be the ones giving the store/kiosk money?!

Not at all, I sized down from my TTS and they fit perfectly.

Adidas really needs to get their sizing together, it's insane. My 1.0's are size 11.5, 2.0's are size 11, and now 3.0 is size 10.5. And they all fit perfectly. That's ridiculous IMO.

I've only ever had one issue with returning shoes at Footlocker but that was years ago.  I think they were the white out foams and the girl at cash said their policy back then was that foams and release day jordans were final sale.  This may have changed but i ended having to keep those foams so i remember it vividly.

It's really up to you tbh.  like many said if you're paying your bills and have left over money to spend then it doesn't hurt to buy a couple pairs here and there.  I'm sure everyone here's experienced at least one point in your life when your funds were too low cause you bought one too many pairs.  Question is are you living pay cheque to pay cheque and still copping all these kicks?

Everyone here is at different stages in life too so what one values more is subjective.  I mean if you have no "real" assets to your name or a good savings plan (ie if you lost your job and don't have enough saved up to help you survive for at least a couple of months) maybe buying a pair a week isn't the best way to use your money.  But if you have good savings and you're not impacting the standard of living of you and your loved ones it's all good.

Anyone looking for a decent pair of ball shoes? I'm looking to unload a pair of Kyrie 3's in the "hot punch" colorway size 9 DS. Bought on impulse, only tried on at home. I would return it to FTL but I threw away the receipt in the bag like a dummy. Asking $160 (below retail and save the taxes)

You think stores will have a lot of stock for Royalty or am I looking at lining up extra 7:00am early for these bad boys

Apparently HoH is supposed to have a lot of stock compared to the take flight 8s but again i would contact them to find out to be sure.  With the hype you never know if they'll sell out these days

according to KDC, he says there seems to be a lot of stock on NDCA (GR) but still be persistent , but you should be good.

The Royalty 4's are a GR, whereas the Take Flights were limited, as only HOH stores carried them. The local/smaller FTL stores such as Erin Mills, Woodbine, etc. are going to be carrying the Royalty 4's.

All in all, I don't think lining up is necessary at all. Especially if you're going to be copping in the DT Core, you got 4 stores in the Yonge/Dundas area, as well as Livestock Spadina and Exclucity.

Don't slack though just in case. Go at a reasonable time. Don't go right before closing and expect pairs to be there.
