My people are really proving every stereotype right EDIT: Sort of a reach

Black folks find any excuse to throw a party, you should know that by now. I see what your getting at but I still think its
a bit of a reach.

Eh, you're reaching a little too hard. I don't see them as reps of the whole black race. They are just happy over the outcome, you can't fault themor say they are proving stereotypes right.

Ok yea i see it I am reaching. In my head I guesss I just saw it as like obama and the congress in a ballroom and then "What up Whats Happening"comes on. My apologies

Yeah Scotthallwithpick, they just throwing a party, they don't represent the whole black race. Don't mean to go off in your thread, but Obama is offthe hook. He is willing to take the responsibility when the whole world has no hope, the economy is collapsing, and the international stage is all about Warsagainst each other religions. Man, the pressure on MJ making that shot against Utah for the shampionship, ain't got nathan on OBAMA. OBAMA whether he winsor fails has an excuse.

I actually wanted to make a similar post.

I understand that we as black people are proud of Obama's accomplishments and would like to show that. However, I think there are much better ways of doingthat. Although, those others ways remain to be seen. I think partying is not the way to go in my humble opinion. If anything, we should show our pride bycontinuing to support Obama, setting our standards as a people higher, instead of resorting to numerous celebrations and parties. Again, that support remainsto be seen because the man hasn't even taken office yet.

I saw a flyer posted in my building advertising an Obama inauguration party and was like "I bet this is going on everywhere." Sure enough, I getupstairs and on the radio (Hot 97) was another ad for their own party.

I guess after all the hoopla, we'll see how the race responds to this accomplishment.

so we can't have fun around the time the 1st Black president is sworn in? Is that not cause for celebration?

We can continue to support Obama and pop a few bottles

People , regardless of nationality, are going to gather together to watch the main event. Whats the big deal?

I still fail to see the reason for frustration. This isn't Obama's officially selected performers, this is an event hosted by MYSPACE! Since when hasMyspace been the epitome of maturity and selectivity?

His point is these are the reprasentatives of black artists in America. It plays into the stereotype of the thuggish African-American whether that is right ornot.

I don't really care either way, but OP has a point.

Young Jeezy and TI have numerous songs in which they glorify drug use, drug dealing, gun violence, degradation towards women, etc.

Then again, it's just entertainment. And if this happened during the inauguration of some white president, nobody would say it was indicative of his raceas a whole. Young Jeezy and Ti are not black America and they are not Barack Obama.

i feel you OP. i discussed this last night with a friend. it's identical to the MLK episode of the boondocks.
