NT Yuku Complaint Thread.

I am making a compaint about the seemingly insignificant, yet glaringly tacky temperature icon. Please register my minor suggestion somewhere lower on thepriority list.

Anyways.......I look at my navigation bar and see an alert or whatever for a comment I click on the number to see no comments is that glitch or something wrong with my profile?
C'mon man, if you could still make avys, you'd be hurting over the avy situation too... don't lie

Yeah, there is too much spacing between every post i think the avy are a little to large...oh well, whatever makes them sleep better at night.

actuality there
is or are a few posts that were added to the thread, since I last
clicked it. Anyway u can fix that?

You can go by the little red arrow on the left hand side of the thread...that indicates new posts.

but that arrow gets defeated if there's a temp. icon there....

can't adjust that for us?

I can't see NTers avys' in their original size anymore. I want to see ^ Drunken Cow's avy but the100x100 is too small.

If you don't know what I'm talking about and you're a FireFox user, I used to just drag the avy I'd like to see enlarged into another tab...then it'll show the picture in it's original size. I can't do it on Yuku's version of NT because it's just a link to the dang user'sprofile

Who is that chick in that avy? I can't tell... Looks like Michelle Branch to me but I know that she wouldn't pose topless. And her bust size isn'thuge like that. Who is that?

It's a fair trade, though.

On the old board, if you ever clicked on a fast moving post and went in to read replies, if you hit refresh that page would NOT update. You'd get taken toreply 27, for example, even though five posts had been added since then. Now, if you refresh the thread, you'll see all the new replies that have beenadded WITHOUT having to go back to the front page and click the page number again - just to get the URL to stop at 35 instead of 27 - and the process repeatsitself.

If you're really intent on following a thread from start to finish over an extended period of time, now you can use an RSS subscription to do so and haveall the replies delivered straight to your preferred newsreader.

All you have to do is retrain yourself. Go to the last GRAY number and you'll catch up on the last replies on that page. You're scared now becauseit's different. In a few weeks it'll be second nature. There are concrete advantages to the way Yuku handles it, though, and if you understand whatthose are hopefully you can appreciate the new format for what it is, rather than what it isn't.

No, it's not ezboard. That's a GOOD thing.

Ezboard:Internet Years :: Kevin Willis: NBA Years :: Methuselah:Human Years

Since this complaint has been moved, I'll move my response as well:

Yeah, that's the default image that came with the board. It's functional. It goes with our existing colorscheme.

Changing it is not exactly at the top of our priorities list re: Yuku, but if you guys can produce one that's universally adored we'll use it.

Then everyone can sit around and nitpick your contributions. That'll be fun.

Now that we don't have all 50 pages of a popular topic strewn across the page, it's slightly more difficult to immediately discern which topics areattracting the most responses. So, there's a little icon.

It's a default feature. The only way I can even turn it "off" is to set the threshold to from 200 replies to, say, 2,000,000 replies - ifit'll even allow that.

The truth of the matter is that there's clearly a difference between caviling and legitimate issues with the new platform. This week, we're focused onthe legitimate issues. Many of the trivial gripes people have with the new platform will fade as they become accustomed to the site's slight facelift. Thefunny thing is, the average person who visits NikeTalk only occasionally can't even tell the difference. In talking to people in the real world about this, this response was typical: "it's like nothing changed - but the site is better." I'm on the site virtually every day. I've been herebefore the place even opened to the public in December of 1999. I know the platform pretty well. I'm familiar with what changed in front of and behind thescenes.

Considering we're on a completely new platform, that we migrated the entire site to a new board, the visual changes are so incredibly minor. Imagine whatwould've happened if we'd moved, instead, to a vbulletin product on an independent host. Everyone would have to register again. None of the posts wouldbe kept. We'd have to build the skin ourselves from the ground up, and it wouldn't be remotely similar. Compare ezboard to any platform created in thispast decade (2000 forward) and you have to admit its obvious inferiority. The thing was archaic. It's a miracle we squeezed as much life out of it as wedid.

We were slated to arrive on Yuku a full year ago. We missed that window and everyone gave us hell and questioned our credibility. I vowed to get us on a newplatform by the end of the year - even if it meant leaving ezboard - and we lived up to that promise.... and yet we're still showered with criticism forit.

So, it's obvious that we would attract complaints quite literally NO MATTER WHAT we did. As such, you'll excuse me if it's of minor importance thatyou don't like the HOT TOPICS ICON after 4 days of use.

I think method man is a robot.....i could have sworn i saw the exact reply on an other thread

i like it now that i can use it right, the profiles are cool. my only complaint is the big spaces between posts and there is no SMH emoticon. this is nt weNEED that.

oh nevermind guess i didnt quite catch that first sentence

You still have the ability to view the image on its own (right-click image>view image), just not in its original size. Yuku automatically resizes everystill image into a 100 X 100 image regardless of its original size.
You'll just have to live not being able to get a closer look at someone'savatar.

You can always ask them for the original image via PM if you really can't live w/o seeing it.

Look at the legend at the bottom of the topic listing page in any forum, there's a different hot topic icon for a hot topic with new replies.
