It's a sad day..... New Air Jordan's Zero Hype

Seems like most, including myself, are giving a pass to the 2K9's or at least until they are cheaper. I don't remember a time when there has been solittle hype/love for a new release of Air Jordan's, the supposed pinnacle of basketball shoes.


It's a sad day for me. I should be excited about todays release. I should want the 2K9's like I have every other Jordan since the OG 4's. This isthe first time in 20 years that I will not be one of the first in line for a new pair of Air Jordan's.

I don't really see these as the new Air Jordan. They said that XX3 would be the last numbered Jordan. To me that means the end of that series. These 2K9sare a whole nother category. Don't look for another hyped new Air Jordan release until Marcus goes pro. Then they'll start the series all over. I'mhoping for the best.
 
yep. every new jordan release they sit on the shelf, still can get some purple 6Rings if i wanted. nothing is selling cuz we all want the old styles to comeback!

A couple stores had them on showcase mode yesterday. Not one person wasdiggin' these. These suck. I'm happily passin' on these, without a hint of regrets.
 
i gave up on Jordan brand after the dmp's. since then seems like jb has never been able to market himself and his products to the consumer like back in theday. if you think about it, a lot of og heads who have been in the game are giving it up because it to the point that we all have are standard and jb isn'tanywhere close to them. Jordan has been the king for 23+ years but i think we need to understand that no one can be #1 forever.

matter of fact I didnt even know that they were releasing today not because I dont know
about the releases is because I dont care abut those 2K9 and the price is way too high

i agree. the 23 was the last in the line this is a whole different thing now.

and I really dont think there was a lot of hype for many of the latest releases. Was there really a lot of hype for the 21 and 22? I really dont recall much. Ithink the 23 was just a lot more hyped than usual and now we are crashing back down to reality.
 
not true theres been alot of jordans with very lil to no hype,, the 15's had very lil hype hitting the sales rack i and i remember 17's also doinghorrible and im from nyc,, well see how they do in the long run,, i like them but since theres not hype im not gonna pay full price ill wait for them to go onsale
 
preferred the days of no hype, its just now theres no hype because the shoes are trash

Be careful for what you wish for.

You'll know what I'm talking 'bout when that time comes around. But rumors are, they are going to do this 'Nike Air' logo thing (which Ihighly doubt).
 
There has been less and less hype about the J's as the years have gone on. Maybe there was just an abnormally high amount of hype for the XX3's.
 
Its sad that NDC says the 2k9 features MAX Air as tech.

Not even Nike/JB seems to care about this release, let alone marketing it correctly.

Theres no coming back from this thats what they get for stopping the numbering of new Air Jordan models.
 
I lost hope after the XIX's. XX-XXII just didnt do anything for me. The XXIII's actually grew on me...
 
i was hype for these 2 pairs of I highs but i cant find them anywhere in the stores... i dont mean sold out. nobody even knows about them. WACK!
 
I copped the 2k9's this morning & this guy left Athlete's Foot angry because they didn't have the six rings lol,didn't bother to look @ the2k9's. To each his own though
 
yes very sad. i woke up today with the same feeling i always do on release day but then realized there is nothing to look forward to. i guess i will just gocop some SB's i wanted.

does anybody remember when the air jordan xi came out?they sat on shelves as well.because nobody liked the patant leather on a basketball shoe,keep that inmind

^Don't take this the wrong way, but no one is going to have a 72 game season and win a championchip while wearing these.
