Jobless and Frustrated NTers check in VOL. WE NOT-WORKIN!!!

Just got hired for a 9 month position for a subsidiary with Amazon for data entry and I start this Monday. I was referred by one of my good friends who has worked their for two years. Always nice to have friends to look out for you and you never know unless you ask around. Luck and patience go hand in hand with the job search.

Got an interview for a CSC event staff spot coming up on Thursday; something's gotta give, so we'll see how it goes.

Interview Thursday for an art teacher position at a private school. The timing is perfect. I've got a very extensive background in the arts including a degree in fine arts. Bros, you just don't know how much I need this to come through :smh: barely getting by with current job, I need an upgrade in income badly.

So if your new job asks you to start immediately but your current job has you on schedule, what do you do?

You start your new job. You owe nothing to your former employer. They would fire you instantly. If you want to remain on a somwhat good relationship, give them a heads up you're not coming in.

Ok thanks. Just figured I should tell my new employer I wanted to give atleast a week notice to my current job . That way my new job won't think I'll do them the same way.

Interview at private school was yesterday, I think it went well. I literally did everything I could do to show them that I was the right candidate. It was myself, the art director (male in his 50's, son was mad chill) and another art instructor (female in her 30's, very polite and professional). I showed the magazines that I was published in, I showed them my award winning artwork, I showed the letter from the white house (I invited a president to my first art show, it was declined, but I keep the letter to show how serious I am about my art), I informed them of my position of striving to be a mentor at all cost both in and out of the classroom. I even memorized the school's mission statement and quoted a few excerpts and explained how it aligned with my personal beliefs and value system, the other teacher looked at the director and looked OD impressed. They informed me that the Seniors take a yearly trip to Maine or Cali and camp in the wilderness, which I paralleled with my air force experience and how we camped out for a week in basic training. I feel like I left it all on the floor, I did everything but draw them sitting there. Before the director revealed the salary, he prefaced it with something along the lines of "it's not much, especially compared to other schools..." once he shared the amount I thought to myself 'at this point in my life, that's literally life changing money'. I've learned of teachers here in TX making around 60, so I see why he feels that way, especially if he's reached that amount in his career. They assured me that I will find something out by the end of the week, I was like "uh.... that's tomorrow". I haven't heard anything today, but I'm staying optimistic.

After it was over, as I was walking down the hallway about to walk outside, I heard the director say to her "we've got a tough decision"... Which at least assures me that I did my thing.

I need this, keep your fingers crossed for your boy.

I hope you get it man

I quit my part time job last week. I couldn't take it anymore so I just put a note on the register and walked out. They called my house later as if they thought it was joke. The time they called they left a voicemail asking me if i was sick or something. Then they called hours later again and they asked if was true that I quit and I said yea n hung up. I blacked out my name in the pic. After this Im never being a cashier/customer service worker...Always wanted to just bash rude customers heads in every time they decided they wanted to act up.
Btw i know my hand writing is bad

i dont blame you. Worked retail before and every customer thought they were right when they were wrong 98% of the time. This customer is always right thing sucks too. Some of the usual suspects just started trying to game things their way just to see how much they can get away with. Also, i always get annoyed when some dude's like, "sup boss." Dont have a rational reason but something about that makes me feel some type of way

They should change that statement to the customer is never right! And I hate when they try and lay the money on the counter instead of in my hand! Like bish how would you feel if I didnt hand your change back to you in your hand and just laid it on the counter?!?

I just hate the fact that they think they're right even though i explain to them why there're wrong. Then they want to speak to a manager and when he comes they say the same exact thing I said.
