i normally don't do them because i felt like it doesn't really make a difference in whether you get the job. i used to do them and now i rarely do them but i just sent one in like an hour ago because i really want this position loool. It was normally 3 paragraphs and extremely generic.

Send thank you emails. Just a thanks for considering me for the position and taking the time out to speak with me.

The last time I did that i was specifically thanked for sending a thank you note. I got the position
Been unemployed since December.

Have you looked for work outside of your field? I'm working an unrelated 9-5 but also freelancing so as to keep a foot in the game.

I have a BA in Comm w/Advertising emphasis as well. Finding jobs is tough if you didn't do any internships. I learned it the hard way :smh:

I'm working at a job that has nothing to do with my major, but i'm still pursuing a career in Advertising. I recently was accepted to join a Ad Academy program at an Ad Agency that last about a week. Hopefully the experience at the program will generate leads and open doors.

I don't necessarily want to work in an agency. I'd rather be part of an in-house team or work as a communications specialist or something along those lines for a company. I've been getting interviews, just haven't been able to land the job yet :smh:

This.

Just finished up my Master's in Design Strategy & Management and I have the advertising work experience.

I'm getting the interviews, but really learning that personality and cultural fit make a huge contributing factor whether you're hired or not.

Keep at it and your head up fam.

Looks like I'm job hunting again. It's been a long while. Have yall ever tried a resume writing service?

I have. Cost me 75$ if I remember correctly. Mostly was a lot of changes to the word choice that was in my resume and helped in the formatting if I remember right. Cant say it was a game changer for me, but I like the formatting of my resume and dont see much reason to change it.

Got job interviews for a Bank teller position at a local bank, and Merchandise specialist at best buy tomorrow and Thursday. I left my most recent job at a Century Link call center 1 1/2 months in during training, because I realized that sales was not the best situation for me. If asked should I go with that or come up with a better reason?

damn broskis, the position i really wanted is supposed to let me know if i make it to the next step monday-wednesday, and it's tuesday. i'm not feeling good about it anymore :frown:

forgot i even applied to a position, but i got an email saying something i applied to a few weeks was cancelled...would have been an interesting position dealing with Congress for funding opportunities in commercial space flight...the employment requisition was closed and nobody would be hired

What's use of submitting my resume, if you're gonna have me fill out info that's already on my resume??

I swear these kinds of things are to weed out the unmotivated, word to USA jobs. Those apps are like two hour long for NO reason.

damn bros, today is the moment of truth whether I will move on to the final step on the interview process of a position i really want. It would have been a great look for me to get it but I don't think I will :frown:

i felt great about getting it after the last interview so hopefully I am wrong.

Had a phone interview yesterday and just like the staffing lady told me, the HR lady was mad dry and was hard to read her. Hopefully I hear back from them this week but if not it's whatever.

Gotta keep the faith man, last thing you can do is stress yourself out over it.

Went on a interview monday morning and got the call today that I've been hired :D. Such a relief; I've been out of work for a month and 2 weeks. Applying to jobs mon-fri became my job. Keep applying and sending your resumes out there guys. Its def a numbers game. Just keep the hope & faith alive and keep trying. I hope everyone in here flourishes and gets employed soon.
