:::OFFICIAL SNEAKER CARE/MAINTENANCE POST::: (It's back!)

I really would like to but seems like this is as good as it gets lol plus this week not looking good to be sunny
you dont have to have a sunny day for them to work, the suns UVA and UVB rays go through clouds which is why you can still get a sunburn when it is overcast so in actuality overcast days are the best for retrobrite sessions since the heat is minimal, just watch out for rain and such.

Appreciate the info I knew it can work just didn't think it would be as effective
nah it will work fine, plus if you want to do indoor method its not that bad if you get full spectrum bulbs for growing plants indoors. they give plants life which is what the sun does so it will work almost as good and if you use the LED bulbs the produce very little heat so it is a perfect match especially for 8 hour sessions

Went to Sally pick up salon 40 only 2.00 and only 30 min of morning sun. Happy with results. I know it wasn't much but I like to keep my kicks lookin like ds

Is the actual midsole starting to crumble? Never seen anything like that on a 4 year old shoe
No, both midsoles are still flexible and the shoes are worn but in good overall condition. These are two pairs of AM1, one from 2010 and the other one from 2011 I believe.

On the top one the midsole just split up below the heel. When I wear them the beige part of the sole actually pushes through the hole. I have no idea how that happened, I just noticed it when taking them off. I read that using silicone can "fix" small cracks like this, but I am not sure.

On the bottom one the glue that connects mitdsole and mudguard somehow cracked. Not a problem I hope, but I am afraid that the condition gets worse while wearing.

I plan on restoring some Retro 5 raging bulls. I think I have all the materials I need.

-Suede cleaner

-Red suede die

-Brush

-Patience

I will be more then happy to keep yall posted but I have two questions How do I restore the red netting on the retro 5 raging bulls? Is there a way to ice up soles without setting them out in the sun?

Mine too. I meant heat gun or blow dryer? I just turn my heat gun up to about 850 and keep it moving in a small area of the outsole and it was enough to loosen them pretty easily.
I've been using a hair dryer. I used to have a heat gun, but it somehow disappeared. That would be really handy right now. Lol. What shoes are you swapping?

My pair of '99 Columbia 4's

Ez cleaner is the ******* truth. I bought it mainly to clean my cool grey 11's which I literally wore 2 times, the second time in mud which is what messed them up. Probably added at least $50 in value to them

But after taking care of the xi's, I decided to work on my black cement 3's which have been through hell and back and I never cleaned them once. I wore them through hurricane sandy, hooped in them, they were daily wearers, and ez cleaner actually gave them a second life.

Might not be too noticeable of a difference in the pic but on the right is the shoe i cleaned first

Alright I have a few dilemmas with these. I don't know if I should just reglue the toe caps and wear them or just tear off the entire midsole..
The cracks and separation happened after I wore them for the first time but everything else is intact and thhe midsoles are still firm and glue still held in all the other areas.

Besides that, in the last pic the toebox on the right is deteriorated while the other one is fine, I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to fix this or prevent further deterioration on that shoe?

If the midsole is not crumbling/soft, firm and still wearable, then just reglue it and continue to wear it. Separation happens, it's not that big of a deal. Different shoes, but apply a similar concept.

Just repaint the back midsole that has paint chipping off with Black Angelus Acrylic paint.

Do something like this:

To help with the fading/discoloration of the suede:

And also, if you haven't, would recommend some general cleaning with some Lincoln EZ cleaner or detergent/dish soap and water + toothbrush, Jason Markk, etc.

Thanks for your response I will do that. The only thing I am slightly hesitant about is the baby oil thing, the deteriorated shoe has lost the feeling of that nubuck material on the toebox. I feel like it's fragile so I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this or a similar situation before I go ahead and try it?

The baby oil will likely solve that issue.
