man if somebody invents that ... the government would never let the general public get a hold of that type of technology... people would becommitting crimes 24/7 and never getting caught ... like dude on that movie JumperOriginally Posted by kiuyt856

Whoever invents it will be the richest person ever.
10 years is a LOT of time for technology to progress that far imo.Originally Posted by wj4
That's cool and all, but I highly doubt it. 10 years is not far off...
Some of that is already here. This vid is over a yr old, check it

Naw, they'll have teleporting stations, so you can't just go to any point you want, only designated areas.Originally Posted by stoneyjax

Thats probably closer, but maybe 25-40 years. I mean, 25 years ago we got our first computers to the masses and Microsoft/Apple came about. Ithink we could have the technology in that video concepted and developed to an extent, but actually being available to the masses and students etc is not verylikely at all. I would love to be proven wrong when I walk down a street and see some guy start talking with a word bubble pop out of nowhere withenglish/japanese text though.Originally Posted by wj4
I'd say at least 50 years. Back in 1999, most cars didn't even have navigation. There were no LCD's or plasma's for the masses. Cell phones were still very expensive and quite builky.Originally Posted by presequel
from 1999 to 2009 we didnt make that huge of a jump as that video is showing. thats more like......20 years. MAYBE.

seems cool to think about but there's no way the lower class will ever be able to obtain or afford that kind of technology. Money is the root to all evil.
Of course the lower class will never be able to obtain this kind of technology! Don't you understand it's all a part of the plan. Thereare some people who do not even have access to computers in America. My aunt teaches at an inner city school back home, and the students are just now gettingcomputers, and even then they are dated as hell. Now imagine how they are prepared for higher learning, in comparison to students who do have access to thelatest technology. A damn crime.
Society says that you need Product A to advance, yet only a privileged few have access to Product A. As a result, the haves and have nots continue toseparate.
It's the American way.

I feel as if technology is a beautiful thing, and it makes for a more efficient society. However, it alarms me that nobody thinks twice about how much this digital world is dumbing everyone down.
Look at how the mass production of calculators has damaged math skills in the country.
Furthermore, there is a significant opportunity cost when it comes to this technology stuff. We are trading in our privacy for convenience.
And the worst part of it all is that our society has grown to prove that you cannot be fully successful without depending on technology.
No self sufficiency, we are all puppies out here.
Honest to God, as amazing as this prospective technology is, it scares the living %!@% out of me.
Just give me my 40 acres, a mule, and NT, and I'm good.
