If he DOES sell what they're projecting for his 1st week then

to him

Album gets a 9/10 for me. Lost Ones, Nobody's Perfect, and Dollar and a Dream 3 are my fav songs from it.

I love both mixtapes but CW has a great album feel and that's what he needed to deliver as an artist (a complete body of album quality tracks). Both of those aforementioned mixtapes have a ton of them but not in its entirety.

The most refreshing thing in my opinion about listening to this album is the diversity in content which is severely lacking in today's hip-hop climate.
Ehh I don't know about ppl expecting the sound of FNL or The Warm Up or ignoring the quality of music or lyricism. I think what made TWU so great is it's balance, the lyricism, production, content but yes it is a mixtape. FNL had a specific sound, had that 90s R&B and Hip Hop vibe. Not that the album isn't good in those 3 areas but I can't say it's flat out better.
As a fan I never wanted this album to sound like an ALBUM not a mixtape and Cole executed that well with his debut.
Did you mean to say "...I never always wanted the album so sound like an ALBUM not a mixtape"? If not I'm lost.

^yeah that was a typo. I meant always.

I agree with you about the sounds of the mixtapes but I think this album has its own sound and I like it and is very balanced. Everything you credit for being good about TWU is also great about this album...so I don't disagree with you at all. I can say the album IMO is flat out better than FNL and as good as TWU.

Not saying you specifically but I see some in this thread posting that the album sounded too happy, or had too many "light" tracks...so pretty much if they didn't get hard spitting gritty J. Cole on every track they wouldn't like the album. Just something that irks me with people when reviewing music that they are not objective and they are not able to desperate their feelings/expectations for music and judge the music for what it is.

The Warm Up for me was good but lacked the energy. FNL was good but could have used alot of cuts. CW is the best selection of songs with production, balance, and although lyrically may be a bit toned down still great quality.

I like the route Cole went with the album cuz old and new fans and others will be able to listen and enjoy full songs. He accomplished that with out straight getting rid of the spitting we are used to from his mixtapes. Although the spitting is not present in abundance like the mixtapes I still think its serviceable for any of the fans that love "lyrical" Cole.

j cole album was good i'd put it right behind big sean's as far as new artists go. wiz didn't deliver as good as expected. big k.r.i.t. might just blow everybody away.

Not sure when the Texas show was but they had em at the LA show last Thursday but the spot they sold em at was sooooooooo pointless. They sold em upstairs right by the entrance which we only got close to when they let us in and by that time it was a race to get a good spot in the venue. They should have sold them downstairs where people were waiting for hours.

LA show only had 2 colors - white w/ black lettering, and red w/ black lettering - when i got to the venue. Red one was only avail in a small and they were $30 each, not $15. Cole's team needs someone to fix that Dreamville font.. I really wanted a shirt, but they look pretty bootleg imo.

But Im happy to see him making sales and having this many fans...
