[:: J. COLE THREAD | DREAMVILLE's ROTD3 ALBUM OUT NOW!! ::]

Somewhere Cole is listening to GKMC and utterly trying to destroy EVERY beat he touches. Call me crazy but the fact that these two our good friends and the outcome of kendricks album coming out the way it did.. has me feeling like Cole is gonna cook up something super official come the next record

Hopefully he has more free reign on this upcoming album.

I can definitely see Cole getting motivated by a good Kendrick debut... Good to see that kind of friendly competition :nthat:

Having them try & one up each other on a whole project would be :wow: :pimp:

:nerd:

^Repped. Thanks for posting. Very cool video :smokin

Crooked Smile sounds DOPE :x :wow:
That's that real **** right there.

Cole got me mad now, waiting impatiently for those songs to drop.
He sounds really inspired, he sounds like he hasn't lost his touch with reality. He sounds like he's still hungry, and thats great because most of the time when a young artist has success so early with their first album they start to lose that drive.

I can't wait for that new music to drop :smh: :nthat:

That's the thing i actually think he does have IT. I feel like cole has every aspect you can want in a rapper and the fact that he's also growing dramatically as a producer is only going to help him more. Ever since that album dropped and he proved to all the world that he's here to stay (He outsold the "Hottest rapper of the year" as a youngin) his entire presence has just came off as nobody can touch me on the mic.
I picture K.dot/ Cole like a modern day Nas/Jay, the content is diffrent but the similarities in their approach and attitudes are very similar.
K.dot atleast early on has shown that he'll touch on any topic and put all his emotions out on a track, where as Cole finds a way to make hits w/o coming across as a sellout and still keeping his tracks Lyrically on par with the best.
IMO now that he's reached that success and knows how the world views him you are going to see him get a lot deeper and darker in his music (ala his mixtapes)

...and "Workout" was nowhere near a "hit single" when his album dropped.

Just thought I'd add that.

I agree with everything here and I too look at Cole and Kendrick as the new age Jay/Nas. I appreciate what they both bring to the table as rappers and I hope they both push each do great work.

^^^^^he can spit but is devoid of swagg(hate that word), attitude, a presence. There's nothing about him that COMMANDS your attention. If you happen to catch him spitting somewhere, hear a line or two, you'll stop , wait til he done, then say this boy nice. But then keep walking again. Some ppl get by wit swag alone and no substance, for him its the other way around. Ide rather have his problem tho.

P.S. unfortunately he may need to catch a bullet or get to shankin some low level artist fr more attention

Word! Those who question J. Coles "lack of swag" or appearance etc generally don't value substance in hip-hop. Making good music should be the bottom line which J. Cole does and sadly that is not valued by many hip-hop fans today.

I don't really think he needs to change anything about himself though. His debut album had no hit single and was in no way his best body of work and sold more out any recent new artist not named Drake.

I think Cole is pretty solid in his lane, especially with the female demographic. Some ppl are never going to like him no matter what he does so it's no sense in trying to appeal to everyone.

Where does this Stigma that he needs attention come from. The boy has been world touring.... Outsold Ross, 2 Chainz, Gonna outsell Meek, & all the other cats that are suppose to be the "Hottest" right now. And he did it by releasing Great music and building a fanbase that is going to have incentive to actually purchase his album the next go round.

It's come to a point where someone gives you good music but their swag is off and they can't **** with em. But dudes can respect the swag of a ***** who has MTV tatted on em & that of a troll who calls himself a princess. Like is this really life

 Truth. I don't get this phenomenon either, like dude's produciton skills have grown a lot and although I didn't think Sideline Story was his best work (his sophomore album should give him more leeway to return to more of the Warm Up style, which will be great) it was still a very very solid debut and he did good numbers. I really think it boils down to people being almost lazy listeners, rather have all hype and bravado with ZERO substance than have the bravado scaled back and have a dude's lyrical talent shine thru smh Those who can master both of these elements go down as the greatest ever (Jay, Big, Pac, etc.) but there's no denying Cole is extremely versatile and if that video a couple pages back is a preview of whats to come then I can't wait :smokin

Lets not go overboard though.

Not everyone who isn't feeling Cole doesn't appreciate lyrics FYI. You don' get to diminish others tastes as them being simple minded. Not everyone is trying to "learn" or feels like they need to "study" lyrics to get the point. If folks aren't being entertained, thats on the artist. Lyricism isn't the end of what makes an artist, and J Cole fans don't get to pull this argument out when someone says they're not feeling him.

Cole definitely gets off on a FEW tracks undeniably, but hes far from the lyrical scion he gets praised as. He's very inconsistent, often boring, and rather underwhelming from time to time. Mind you, these are some of my criticisms of the dude, but I feel like people are drawn to his presence and appearance of a time in yesteryear than his actual skill. People are drawn to what they think he looks like he could talk about and not what hes actually done thus far. They're banking on his "potential" and not his actual execution.

Crooked smile sounds like it's gonna be amazing. I'm betting cole is sitting on some heat for real.

I don't care what anyways says he attracts me . I can actually relate to him like some other rappers. What's he been putting out lately isn't the best but he still is good . His debut album was decent but you can't forget the good mix tapes he before the albums.
