Maybe JB should release Crabtree

No!! Save the money from sneaker production to sponsor big babies like him and Lebron.

This whole deal is getting ridiculous. Of the top 15 draft picks, 8 have yet to sign including Crabtree. Basically, agents are going with the 'wait andsee' strategy. No one wants to commit to a contract until the other guy does and neither one of these guys wants to flinch until it's within theirrange.
Problem is is that Crabtree wants approx. $30 million GUARANTEED based on what Mark Sanchez is getting. The issue with that is Sanchez is a QB and isconsidered a higher skilled position than WR. Not to mention that the WR turnover/burnout/bust factor is the highest amongst skilled positions. Lastyear's rookie top end for SF got I think approx. $15 million guaranteed and this guy wants double??!!! That's a wide gap between the 2 sides and nowonder they can't come to an agreement.
Bottom line is Crabtree should be grateful he's in the top 10 and is in a position to get a substantial guaranteed salary.
I'm sure that SF can spell it out in the contract and load it with incentives PROVIDED THE GUY PRODUCES!!!!
Let's not forget this is the NFL and NOT MLB where there's essentially no salary cap. Teams have to work within a budget and the Niners are in noposition to be throwing money around a guy who hasn't even taken a single NFL snap like it's nothing.
I'm all for guys getting theirs but c'mon now. EARN IT!!!
peace

SMH @ Crabtree he should be happy just to get a chance to play in the NFL.

I'm a 49ers fan, and this guy is being a real douche right now. He has yet to prove himself at the NFL level.

Part of it is the agents fault for holding him/others out. No agent wants to be the guy who signs for what they think is 'undervalued' because thatwill set the bar for the rest of the unsigned rookies.
Crabtree needs to sit down with Mr. Jerry Rice and learn what it takes to truly be great, THEN, once he's actually taken a snap or 2 in the NFL and hasproven itself then he can get paid what he's worth.
This guaranteed nonsense for rookies has gotta stop. Prove yourself on the field, then talk.
The NFL needs to put some sort of rookie minimum and adjust it according to position/draft pick position accordingly.
peace

hes being ******ed, yeah he is better than raiders hayward but he got picked 10th, so he should get paid as a 10th pick not 7th! and if he wants to sit you, which is the worst thing he can do for his yet to be started career then go ahead, who remembers that running back from ohio state.....forgot his name, well hefought with the nfl to get in the draft, got rejected, stayed out of college one year, no one drafted him next year...well long story short, got caught withlike 4 weapns and now is in jail for like 7-8 years!

So true.

If you guys read the whole story it says that only his advisior said that. Crabtree and his agent came out to say that he hopes to get a contract done soon

Crabtree is a player that will provide but the way he is handling the situation is very unprofessional to even threaten to hold out for more money.

I'm a 49ers fan, and I think the 9ers are getting karma for having the greatest (rice), to having to deal with T.O., and now Crabtree's divaness. Theproblem in the NFL is SIMPLE to solve.....make the rookies sign a 3 yr deal with a SET maximum for each draft position (like the NBA), and once those 3 yearsare up, they can sign for as much money as a team is willing to offer.....I know the NFL is a violent sport and injuries are bound to happen, so maybe make ita 2 yr contract instead of 3.

Exactly. Everyone in here commenting withoutout knowing the full story (typical of JB forum)...Crabtree nor his agent are planning on sitting outthe '09 year. Y'all are morons.

he'll wind up staying with the 9ners...hes just trying to get some attention because he was drafted higher than he thought...its not that big of a deal...

He will sign just making idle threats that's all....but JB should let him go....I don't blame him holding out tho...no guarantee he will pan out andgotta get as much cash upfront as you can cuz chances are, this may be the biggest contract he signs in his career if he doesn't become a superstar...ohand Maclin > Crabtree?
