Backline would get an Awareness rating of 0 on FIFA.

Kljestan isn't helping himself.

Man, that Ukrainian team came to play for their country. :rolleyes I'm glad they got a win fair & square for their people. Hopefully it brought a little bit of joy amongst the tension & chaos.

I think the US found the starting right back should be Geoff Cameron. The lone bright spot in an awful showing for the US today... Loved the runs he was making on that right side & also locked his portion of the pitch down. It's a shame his defensive team mates didn't do the same.

Ya, I'm with ya; glad Ukraine had this game to have their minds off a sad situation for a a little bit.

Cameron was solid, especially in the 2nd half when the US came out with a little pep. I really like Cameron alot and agree that he should start at RB but idk if he did all that much to separate himself from Evans. Hopefully he is able to widen the gap a bit when the next camp comes around.

I liked what Bedoya did today too, I'm assuming he is a lock for Brazil

I'm leaning towards getting his, Johannsson, or Cameron's kit

Damn, just us 2 in here? Where's deepinthajeep, I could always count on you & him in here with me...

Didn't get to see the game. Did Ukraine just play super inspired or did the US look bad?

I can't get down with that blue on the kit. I'm too used to navy.

Klinsmann didn't have numerous key players available to him like Omar Gonzalez, Besler, Landon, & Michael Bradley so this game was going to be tough without those guys. The US only really played well for the first 20 mins of the second half. The only consistent player from beginning to end was Geoff Cameron playing right back.

Everyone else looked like a disaster to be honest most especially Jozy & Duece. Duece continues his struggle from all of last year since to this year. Jozy seems to have gone ghost again. Part of the problem being not getting good service but you can't blame that for all of their woes.

Gotta keep the faith though. We didn't have someone of our best players... :D

Wasn't sure if I should even post the highlights but I always do... :rolleyes

I watched a little of the game again before I deleted it off my DVR. :smh: I don't think it warrants any more comments...

Man i hope with our full squad we look better. Bradley and Donovan should make an impact.

Anyone think we can get out of our group come WC time though? We have the benefit/misfortune of playing germany last. They could already be in by the time we play them and we could see their b-squad (not like we could beat their c-d-e squad) but if they aren't in yet...or need goal differential or something...we are gonna get throttled.

But i think we hang with Portugal and Ghana and if we win one of those games and maybe draw the other and germany wins out we have a shot

As monstrously talented as "Die Nationalmannschaft" is, I wonder if past recent failures to win & the pressure it brings weighs heavy of the psyche of this team. Chile really took it to this team the whole game. The Germans actually looked pretty confused out there on their home turf against the likes of King Vidal & Alexis.

The Germans even started jeering at the team in the closing minutes & specifically targeted Ozil who they cheered at the beginning of the match for winning his third national player of the year award.

Loew was visibly upset & so where some of the players. Also add to the fact that European teams historically don't fare well when the WC is in South America. :rolleyes

The US just has to concentrate on playing 1 game at a time.

Its scary to think how terrible the Gooch and JAB pairing were and that they were a clear couple cuts below Omar and Besler, and those two already aren't anything special to begin with

But to answer @Wings90, it was a combination of Ukraine coming out to play and applying good pressure in the first half, and our team not having the cohesion to get much of anything resembling an attacking look going, sans the first part of the 2nd half. We were forced to just defend, defend, defend, and poorly at that. Atrocious carelessness with our possessions, there were way too many easy giveaways and mishaps with the ball that led to easy takeaways for Ukraine. Overall, Ukraine flat out beat us and there were very few positives to take away from this other than Cameron

looking decent at RB, Johannsson and Shea coming off the bench and giving us a good spark. Personally, I thought Bedoya looked ok as well, Jones as well although his defense, surprisingly, was a little weak. Howard did his best with what little help the defense was giving him.

And I guess, we can say that we likely won't see Castillo, Sacha, Gooch again anytime soon...

Other than that, there weren't any positives

Basically this.

Focus on beating one opponent at a time, have confidence in each other and that they can compete  with anyone, and take care of what they can control.

SI reporting the send-off friendlies are...

5/27: Azerbaijan @ Stanford Stadium
6/1: Turkey @ Red Bull Arena
6/7: Nigeria @ Jacksonville, FL

I'll be in Jacksonville, might go up to RBA since that's on a weekend too.
