They gave him the film because Hollywood will do almost anything to keep their films as white as possible.
They would rather put makeup on someone than cast someone of the actual race of the film

Goku was a Saijyin though. They kinda looked racially ambiguous. Most characters in anime look Eurasian to me.

I just finished Attack on Titan and one of the characters seemed to be the only Asian person left in the world. They called her oriental which was weird.

In case you still don't get it. The Japanese are so much against outsiders you would almost literally have to live there to speak the language. They only speak english to conduct business with the western world. They are facing a population crisis and by the time half (sarcastic exaggeration, because I know some of you need this warning) of their buildings are pretty empty they will still not even consider immigration.

All those creators out in Asia got a problem. For one they're drawing characters that look more white than anything else. It's one thing to not draw yourself but peep how some of them draw black ppl. The expressive eyes and colorful hair don't take away from what's clear as day.
I wouldn't even assume Piccolo as black. *cough*Mr. Popo*cough*
I watched the history on how they developed artistically and some of it is very ****** up. Overall though the excuse/reason is that's just there style. No big deal that Goku ends up cast a white guy to them in a Dragonball movie to them
Issues of race are very different.Hollywood though, that's just what they do. Asian dudes never get the girl in the movies. I remember that thread about the movie 21 where the movie was based on a true story about Asian kids but of course the movie was majority white.

As an Asian dude, it sucks that there aren't any cool lead actors to rep us. They're usually a martial artist that isn't clapping any fine white woman's cheeks. I thought someone like Danny Henny would get a few roles but he's off in Asia working. Brandon Lee could've been the dude but he passed away early.

Yall got John Cho (more tv than movies lately) and that one other guy but I've mainly seen him play smart Asian.
I feel there will be a change though when the distinction becomes more apparent and there are more Asian American actors out there instead of relying on actor directly from countries in Asia.
