NT's LEGAL Gun Thread UPDATE...First Youtube Firearm Review Page 61

Clearer pic of my pistol.

They banned ARs in my state last year during the panic. I was only able to get 2 lowers before the law came into affect. One of them was a polymer lower which sucks compared to the billet one.

Though ARs are banned, we were still able to get a heavy barrel (HBAR) AR and SBR AR but lowers were considered banned which was stupid. Last week, state police released letters stating lowers are legal if configured for pistol, HBAR or SBR. So now I can get lowers again :smokin
Now I can swap out my polymer lower :smokin

I understand what you’re saying Elder, and my post was not to try to convince people to max out their credit cards to get ready for some zombie apocalypse, or government confiscation of firearms and FEMA camps.

Right now things are more or less getting back to normal, pre Sandy Hook. Magazines are especially cheap. Especially since they’re wear items, stocking up on what you need right now while prices are low and supply is good is a good idea. Especially something that not too long ago, was banned nationwide, that even now, has seen banned in numerous states. Connecticut, New York, and Colorado are a few states that within the last few years that have seen magazine capacity limits.

Ammo is starting to come back and for prices close to what they were pre SH. I can’t speak for anyone else in this thread, but shooting is my main, number 1 hobby. It’s a chance for me to get away from the wife and kids, a chance to meet other people with at least one similar interest, and it’s a skill that I would like to improve upon. Because this is my thing, I go to the range every week. Yearly, I probably shoot somewhere between 6,000 and 8,000 rounds of handgun ammunition. Commercially loaded ammo in 50 round boxes, that’s between 120 and 160 boxes of ammo. While an extra $1 or $2 per box in small quantities isn’t going to make much of a difference, when buying in bulk, or when you actually sit down and calculate prices, it’s a significant amount.

At least 2 times in the last 6-8 years there have been “panics”. Each lasts for a while, then prices and supplies settle back down, albeit at higher prices. I’m sure everyone whose gone to Walmart to buy ammo can remember the bulk 100 round packs of 9mm selling for $18-$20. We’ll probably never see prices that low again.

The way I see it, buying something you will definitely use, that’s non-perishable, in bulk or at lower prices makes more sense than paying more for it later, or having to go without. We’ve all seen what the result of 1 crazed individual can do to a multi-billion dollar industry.

I also think there’s a difference between planning ahead and hoarding. Having enough guns, mags or ammo to last you through any hiccups in the supply chain is just plain good planning. Don’t forget a lot of the panic was caused by resellers too.

$540 G26

Comes with tru glo night sights, 2 10 round mags and 2 15 round mags

Found another one with a stock non Cerakoted slide for $475 3 mags

Thoughts?

^ the stock glock. Or better yet see if you can talk down the cerakoted one to $500. I like guns as close to stock as possible as I have my own preference for sights, and you never know what else bubba might have done to that gun (unless the cerakote was done by a professional)

Cotite, I definitely agree with you and 223 about keeping a stash to survive the fluctuation of ammo supply. It's definitely better to just be alb to get up on a Saturday morning and head directly to the range instead of having to stop at Walmart and praying they have ammo in.

223, both are nice in their own way, but yeah out of the 2 I'd go with the Cerakoted one. Nice price, comes with 3 mags which is the same when bought new, and it gives you the option of getting your own sights. Those Glock plastic sights are cool but they aren't very damage resistant.

Cerakote was done by a local shop that only does cerakoting for guns and cars mainly firearms.

Cerakoted 26 comes with four mags 2 10 rounders and 2 15 rounders for the g19 leaning towards that one if I can get it for 500 with the night sights

Don't know if this was discussed, but if you are like me and don't like having a round in the chamber at home be careful rechambering the same round because it could lead to ammo setbacks.

You can never be too prepared.
Two years ago, we were all going about our daily business, blissfully unaware that our planet almost plunged into global catastrophe.

A recent revelation by NASA explains how on July 23, 2012, Earth had a near miss with a solar flare, or coronal mass ejection (CME), from the most powerful storm on the sun in over 150 years, but nobody decided to mention it.

Err, what? Well, that’s a sobering bit of news.

“If it had hit, we would still be picking up the pieces,” says Daniel Baker of the University of Colorado.

We managed to just avoid the event through lucky timing as the sun’s aim narrowly turned away from Earth. Had it occurred a week earlier, when it was pointing at us, the result could have been frighteningly different.

“I have come away from our recent studies more convinced than ever that Earth and its inhabitants were incredibly fortunate that the 2012 eruption happened when it did,” says Baker. “If the eruption had occurred only one week earlier, Earth would have been in the line of fire.”

The power of this ejection would have raced across space to knock us back to the Dark Ages. It’s believed a direct CME hit would have the potential to wipe out communication networks, GPS and electrical grids to cause widespread blackout. The article goes on to say it would disable “everything that plugs into a wall socket. Most people wouldn’t even be able to flush their toilet because urban water supplies largely rely on electric pumps.”

Just 10 minutes without electricity, Internet or communication across the globe is a scary thought, and the effects of this event could last years. It would be chaos and disaster on an epic scale.

“According to a study by the National Academy of Sciences, the total economic impact could exceed $2 trillion or 20 times greater than the costs of a Hurricane Katrina. Multi-ton transformers damaged by such a storm might take years to repair.”

So can we breathe a worldwide sigh of relief? Well, not quite. Physicist Pete Riley, who published a paper titled “On the probability of occurrence of extreme space weather events,” has calculated the odds of a solar storm strong enough to disrupt our lives in the next 10 years is 12 percent.

“Initially, I was quite surprised that the odds were so high, but the statistics appear to be correct,” says Riley. “It is a sobering figure.”

However, the CME that almost battered us was a bit of a freak occurrence as it was actually two ejections within 10 minutes of each other, plus a previous CME had happened four days earlier to effectively clear the path.

Sleep well, everyone.

Its not only wars and gov uprisings you have to worry about

This ordeal with Russia got fools panic buying already. Just two weeks ago there were at least 15-20 boxes collecting dust. :smh::smh:

Walmart sucks around me for 7.62 if you have cabellas or fleet farm by you check there. They have bulk ammo stacked to the ceiling.

Think I'm gonna sell my fixie within the next couple of months and cop a shotgun. Gonna have to keep it at my mom's house though since my old man still isn't too fond of guns in the house  He's coming around a bit though.

You guys know anything about safes to put them in, etc?

I scooped some tulammo in 9mm from bass pro. Need to try it out still and see if it cycles in my glock. Hard *** primer probably won't go off since it's striker fire

Here's some more ammo I scooped at a show today [emoji]128517[/emoji]

500

500 rds. of 9mm, .45, and .223. Big box in the back is ~200 rds of long lost green tip 5.56 I forgot about lol.

You'll damn near need a full size (height-wise) safe for a shotgun or any rifle for that matter. If that's not a option, take the barrel off and put a cable lock through the receiver. Store the parts in separate places obv. where people won't get into it or kids won't play with it.

Man the closest Cabellas is like 3 hours away and no Fleet Farm in sight . You still got that AK you posted a while back? I think it was a WASR?

That sucks. Cabellas sells them in ammo boxes and a couple different loads.

Yeah I still have that and only that.
