If Vince Carter had Kobe's work ethic.........

Vince Carter is more athletically gifted than Kobe, imo. All players in the NBA have a different approach & attitude towards the game & how they playit. If you gave Vince Kobe's, than I think he can be a better player because he is more atheltic so I think it could help out.

ya man.......VC seems like a shell of his former self......I don't know if injuries really affected him that much, the fact that he is more passive now, orage.......I mean I miss the old Vince.....not just the dunker, but even the way he approaches the game seems to have changed...

IMO, yes.....i'll get into it a little later on, but for a guy who just goes through the motions and averages 25+, you can only wonder what he would do ifhe had the crazy drive for success that Kobe has. He is one of the most athletically gifted players I have EVER seen in my life. He has had a nice NBA career, but he could have done more.

I have thought about this with other players that some people have accused of "not trying hard enough"
When has Vince shown that his game has been more than a soft fade-away, the occasional dunk over a 7 footer, or scoring 55 a couple of times in the playoffs? Iadmired the dunk in the olympics over Weis. But i wasn't fooled. I always knew he was soft.
Maybe this is how he really is. I'm sure he is working harder than you think. It's a known fact that he is soft, and shys away from contact. Who'sto say those monster dunks weren't the result of him running away from his defender and having no other option of scoring besides climbing the ladder todunk on someone?

I think everybody knows that if Vince worked at his game like Kobe, he would be that much better. Not as in practice, but in game situations. We all have seenthe fades and threes and things like that, where with his athleticism he could take it to the bucket every possession, and score alot more point that way. Itskinda sad when Boki has more highlight dunks than vince...

Without a shadow of a doubt, or at least it would be like Bird vs Magic between him and Kobe. That's why I call him tin man and always post pictures ofthe tin man when a VC post is created. It makes me sick how much of a complete waste of talent Carter truly is.

You never know. Who's to say if he could or couldn't learn and pick up the tricks and moves that make Kobe so good. We'll never know.

No...because reagardless of his work ethic, he's still just doesnt have "it" on the court.

You prolly mean if he had Kobe's "will to dominate/competitiveness"...

No, cuz he'd still be Vince Carter. He'd still settle for jumpers and not take his$%!% in the paint and create contact and and 1 situations. Vinceshould live at the foul line but he likes his jumpers. its his mentality thats the difference between the two.

I know the hate is deep but that's just dumb.

Vince ain't no more athletic than Kobe and vice versa...Kobe just works harder and it shows. They both can shoot and jump out the gym

VC does not play hard. Period. I went to two Nets games this season and saw him four times last season, and his demeanor is similar to that of a guy playing acasual game of pickup ball.

Age and injuries have caught up to him. Look at him. Dude wearing the kneepads, wraps, and braces etc. It was fun while it lasted though...

Well, I think he is the same player, its just he has a different role. Earlier, he had to score, he was flashy, he dunked a lot. But now, his roleis different he doesn't always have to be the go to guy. The dunking has lessened becaus ehe has developed more of a complete game. Now he is mor eof acomplete player than in his earlier years. Look at his numbers, the best all around number of his career the past couple years. So his play is there, he doesplay hard, but as I mentioned different players showcase that differently around the league. Most have the same intent, but show it differenty.

3peat, you make more pointless threads than anyone on the board. you should just have a thread with all of your random thoughts packed into one.

He has the athletic ability to get to the rim everytime there is a clear lane and either:

a.) dunk on whomever is under the basket
b.) go to the free throw line
c.) both a and b

but he settles for jump shots.

Hell no. Even with that intensity, drive and whatnot, Kobe still has that "it" factor. When it comes down to the come down, nobody would saythey'd take Vince over Kobe taking the last shot. Athleticism only takes you so far, but its that determination to win that takes to the next level. Vincehad that in his early days, but even then, he couldn't take his team to the next level.
