🦉The Official Drake Thread6️⃣ - Scary Hours 3 11.17.23

I just really won't understand this. I can definitely respect someone's opinion to say they don't like it. Can't disagree with that, but to say it's meh lyrically kills me. He's said the same things his entire career. This album is not any better or worse than any other album he's done except that's he's not crying about females as much on here.
I'm not the type that's gonna sit here and say I miss the old Ye , Old Drake and whatever but Drake can really flow lyrically on a track the whole so far gone , comeback season even take care was flawless with great music and solid lyrics but come on bro did you listen to this tape ?? , it's not lyrical to me . I love Star67 , Legend , 10bands , Enegey , 6th Man . Most likely gonna have this in the whip till summer .
I listen to this album almost daily. It's great. No I'm not saying it's lyrically better than his old stuff, not my point at all. My point is that it's on par with everything he's done. He's been consistent throughout his whole career that's why it kills me that people hate on this album so much lyrically. He's never changed lyrically throughout all of his albums except for introducing different flows. The only thing I can see differently on this album is he's not caping and pining for females as much. Past that he's on par for what he's done his whole career.

So the 6 God has 42% of the top 50 on the Billboard Hip Hop charts....

700

He's a legend.

shhh you can't say that yet.. :rolleyes "they scream out my failures and whisper my accomplishments"

what's clear is he's the biggest name in hip hop not named Eminem.. and is leading the new school. Him Cole and K. Dot are the future for sure.

do people really rate rappers off their billboard chart appearance? Big Krit probably doesn't even have a single track in the rap charts, but the dude is still a legend.
Album is fire doe, not hating

We rate Drake off of his music which is some of the best out. The fact he's undeniably the biggest rapper in the game also helps too. People say Eminem is the greatest not only due to his classic albums but his ridiculous success that he has commercially. In many peoples eyes he's the GOAT because of that. Drake has dropped 3 amazing abums which of all have been received with massive critical acclaim and commercial success. He's the only one doing that out these new school rappers. Cole is good but he can't make an album better than Drake in his lifetime. Kendrick has a classic album under his belt with Good Kid but he and Cole are in the same boat commercially since they don't know how to make hits.

Drake is only dude who actually has the huge commercial success and critical acclaim. He's pretty much a legend at this point and the purists will try their hardest to deny it but at this point it's undeniable. The man dropped a damn mixtape it sold 500k in a span of 3 days and is selling over 100k 2 weeks out. The people have spoken once again and when he drops VFT6 he's gonna have a pop single and rap singles that he will actually promote this time so how much you think he's gonna sell then?

Agree with everything here. Except man it's an album not a mixtape. LOL. I know that's up for debate, but because Drake half said it was a mixtape people are running with it. It's an album straight up. 17 original songs, barely any guest stars. Sounds like an album to me. But like I said people will always see it both ways. Either way it's dope and makes me hype for VFT6.

Well people here were arguing that Wayne's "I Am Not A Human Being" and "Rebirth" weren't albums either...so...lol.

Looks like Drake has finally platued and has reached his peak. Lyricalky this project sounds uninspiring. I remember when I first heard Paris Morton Music, Dreams Money Cwn Buy, and 5am in Toronto and thought wow he really wants that crown, he really trying to be the best rapper. Even guest appearances like pop off, stay scheming, and No Lie I was impressed. Now listening to his recent guest spots like Blessings, Truffle Butter and Only that hunger is missing.

The production is dope and at times so is the flow but lyrically he is average at best. His music is becoming predictable. I'm enjoying the music but as a rapper and has regressed.

Repped, exactly how I feel in words. If his next album isn't anything special then his run is pretty well over to me.

Hardly come in this thread, but given his fan base and the people i know personally that hold him in such high regards. I thought he had a few more years before cats would start saying he was falling off.

look how fast ja rule fell in 03 , imagine how fast someone can fall today ....

Out of that Version of 6 Minutes and the equally notable version of that on Mood Muzik 2, Cassidy is in 5th/6th place in terms of verse quality right there with Jae Millz

He's not falling off in the sense of 50 and ja rule...

When people say that i think they were too young to know that Ja Rule was always looked at as a clown. Drake ain't never been comparable to that dude he's always been respected as a real artist since the beginning. People like Charlamange been saying the exact same thing for over 5 years now and Drake has only gotten bigger and more respected during that time. His career has already outlasted Ja Rule's very brief run which he always looked at as a joke to the majority of the hip hop community.

LOL what. I know I'm in the Drake thread but Drake has NOT always been respected by the hip hop community.

Ja Rule has not always been looked at as a clown. He was very much respected for his first 2 - 3 albums. He wasn't always a pop singer.

ja rules a legend to my graduating class have always said it and "clap back" was pretty good for its time , there was just no crew or anything that was going to stop what doctor dre started with eminem in 99 and just BLEW UP in a good way in 03 when it became em , dre , 50 , the unit , game came along ........shady/aftermath was unstoppable at the time
