🦉The Official Drake Thread6️⃣ - Scary Hours 3 11.17.23

The more I listen to Know Yourself the more I'm disappointed that he didn't rip that second half of the beat

Whoever production that was

between wonder, Vinylz and Sky Sense.. kudos. Probably my favorite beat of early 2015. Wish there was a better verse to it though

Clearly buddy went a different route flow-wise with this.  Like it's blatantly obvious that he purposely switched things up, and I'm no Drake stan so I'm not even trying to make excuses.

And like I mentioned earlier, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  But if you heard 6 PM in NY, I don't know how you can say he's regressed.  When he wants to he can still spit like the old Drake, IMO.  This isn't a case of true regression like Prodigy from Mobb Deep--this is just a dude switching things up on a "throwaway" album.

6pm in NY couldnt hold a candle to Toronto or Dallas. Nice record but just like Paris Morton Music II it lacks that hunger the previous joints had. Still dope though

What hunger are you looking for? I think he chin checked quite a few people on 6pm in NYC.

The three track stretch from know yourself to Madonna is the best part of this tape. The rest is okay.

After first listen, I don't remember anything. Nothing really caught my attention. I'll give it another listen.

Been playing this all weekend and the songs I rock with the most are

Legend :smh: bruh.
10 Bands :smh: woke up with a shorty this morning and the chill beat fit the mood perfectly.
Used to-took me a while to appreciate this one but it goes.
6 man :x :x :x

Know yourself and energy are great also.

Listening to this through Spotify on my computer.

10 bands is my fav song so far.

Are there any physical copies, I need the CD to play in my car.

Whole tape could have been from 6 Man - 6PM in NY (minus Company. plus Legend)

It plays too long. And you *can* listen to it straight through, but once you start skipping, you kinda just keep skipping. Once I skip Energy, I find myself at 6 Man pretty quickly.

(10 Bands goes pretty stupid in public.)

Star67 hasnt gotten a lot of love in here. Mess with that heavy especially the end

You know when I'm mixin

I smoke when I drink its tradition

Like Zoe mama I go hippy Peace sign in the air like I'm Nixon

Easily my favorite song followed by Wednesday Night Interlude.

For a "mixtape" to have such quality throwaway tracks must mean the album is going to be crazy

Name another woman, ain't no other woman that should comfort me

When I'm lonely

Mixing Remy, little bit of Henny

I'm running on empty, I'm lonely

Sonnn... The way he skated on the hook is beautiful

He regressed lyrically. I think he has reached his peak as an elite rapper. I'm hoping this is as tape full of throwaways because **** sounds uninspired and Drake is on cruise control lyrically. The vibe of this project is dope but I miss his old flows and cadences. 6pm is NY is so underwhelming for that track series. 5am may have been his peak.

This is true. People can say he switched it up, which is true, but he been switching it up since NWTS imo. It's kinda like he's gotten too comfortable with his bars just because he can. But it's Drake, so his "regular" ain't like most other dudes regular. I can't really put my finger on it, the bars definitely aren't bad, but when he spits a punchline now it's kinda like you heard it from him before. Nothing that pops out like it did before when he would spit. Idk, hopefully it's part of this experimental phase he's going thru.

joint is cheeks for the most part. given it enough listens at this point to know i dont really need to listen to it anymore.

Wild part is that I'm the opposite...

...I spent so much time spinnin "6 Man" and "You & The 6" that I've only recently gotten around to the greatness of "10 Bands", "Know Yourself", and "Energy."

I also feel like this cold *** DC weather has been playing a part in my enjoyment...

...if you were to play a Kung fu flick over "No Tellin" before the beat drops, you couldn't tell me I wasn't back in '96 gettin off the train walkin' into 9th grade listenin to a cassette dubbed OB4CL thru a Walkman.

The production is nostalgic...

...but I know that's quite subjective, so if another doesn't feel the same way...

...I can't scoff at 'em.

I used those 2 tracks for people who said they can't relate to the album. They need to listen to those songs and tell me he ain't speaking on something that you can relate too. It's like people expect him to throw on a Dashiki and start speaking about racial issues. Drake is the realest rapper maybe ever. He's not a fake like J Cole who acts like a wannabe activist for album sells. He ain't never had to diss someones else or have to develop stories in the media to sell albums. Drake always been himself and became one the biggest artists in music just by talking about his own life.
you need to stop. your caping has gone beyond opinion and is now straight up bold-faced lies. cut it out.

i see alot of people making mad excuses. listening over and over until you like it. saying he aint fall off, hes just doing something different. or his lyrics fell off but he experimenting with the flow. truth is, this is full of throwaways. and to say a mixtape is good because u like 29% of it (5/17 songs) sounds stupid. im not knocking u for what u like, many of u reveal ur musical tastes (Saying that 808s is kanyes best album...tf?) im just trying to make sure yall keep it real while u drop ya opinion.
