🦉The Official Drake Thread6️⃣ - Scary Hours 3 11.17.23

Jay has also never been a high seller like that,

?

1000

This is pre streams. People BOUGHT these entire albums.

Considering Jay's overall success, his sales are decent. His success is mainly from other ventures.

How do you figure his success is mainly from other ventures? EVERYTHING happened because of his success as a rapper.

It opened the door for other ventures, he's a smart businessman. Record sales =/= ventures, successful ventures at that

The minute you start believing that a media outlet, one who's job it is to drive traffic just to sustain their BUSINESS, is an arbiter of "culture", you've lost.
But is that not what's been happening bruh? Is it not big business effecting how things operate? Those within the culture don't let it effect them and their opinions but they force their way in and those ignorant to how things really operate, take them as the source. They then become "The voice" even though the real arbiters never left.

50 first two albums more than doubles those 5 posted from Jay, 50 more succesful than Jay?

Jay did 5 mill in 98, Jay went double in 2014

50 debut was in 03, around 2010 he was struggling for a release date and barely went gold with bisd

Who would you say had a better rap career?

Everyday a star is born... Clap for him

Jay had more success outside of rap, I'm not gonna argue this with you. Rap opened the door for the stuff he's doing now. His last album was a venture. I didnt say he didnt have success in rap, I said he had more success outside of rap.

I personally don't see it that way. I see Complex ridiculed for what the post as much as they are praised. But maybe that's just me/my circle.

To your point, maybe they do effect "those ignorant to how things really operate". But I think of a different group of people when I think of people invested in a "culture".

As someone said though, "culture" is a very vague term that is thrown around far too loosely on here on so it's hard to call.

I'm praising Jay and you turning it into a negative, you're better than this :smh:

Drake buffers vs Jay buffers.... DEAR GOD!

Bless this thread

**** ain't even go as left as I thought. :smh:

Lowkey disappointed.

But then the homie came through and said most of Hov success is outside of rap to save the day.

Yes. Perceptive.

That is your flawed perception based on some experiences (and I'm guessing very few) you've apparently had though not really the reality if you look at the larger sample size.

I'm the same guy that says Sigel bodied him on most of the songs they did together.

The same guy that gives Dame more credit than most.

If I'm on the "side" of any "argument", it's usually the sensible one

That hurt you're holding on to....you need to let that go.

2nd most number 1 albums in the history of music (15). 21 Grammys. 4 Billboard number 1's as a lead artist (not even counting features). You are only showing your ignorance. Just because you state your opinion as a fact doesn't make it such [emoji]128514[/emoji]. Drake's success in music will always pale in comparison off these facts alone.

How does that convert to profitable revenue again?

By Jay's 2nd album he's already made "Sunshine"

Again, you have to look at the poster you're responding to. He can't let any hurt go when his favorite artist encourages not letting hurt go all throughout his music. It's a lost cause.
