I've been sitting around thinking about this year, and for our country as a whole and especially black people, this has been such a terrible year. Be itall of the high foreclosure rates in black neighborhoods, to rappers , athletes, and people in general being killed or dying for stupid reasons, to us STILLbeing in Iraq, to people going on mass killing sprees, stupid high murder rates in our big cities, high profile people going to jail, high*$%# gas prices, tolittle kids being murdered and murdering people. I know these things have happened in other years, but it seems like it's been excessive this year. So whenthis years ends, I definitely will not miss it. Discuss your feelings on this year

man i think the same amount of crap happens every year. It's just that notice of certain crap happening doesn't get to you in a timely manner or atall. I think we as Americans should stop letting the news hype us up all the time about stuff we may have no idea about, and we all should just worry aboutmaintaining our lives the best we can. We as humans can only do so much...

vvreal..

Terrible year for me as well. I was just thinking about this other day; I really can't wait for the year to end.

Firstly I had to deal with the April 16 shootings at my school, then a month later I found out my grandfather, who I was extremely close with and loved todeath, had cancer. Then he died three days after they found the cancer.

Then just recently Sean Taylor died (doesn't sound like a huge deal but it hit me really hard, I couldn't do any work or concentrate on anything fordamn near a week).

Also my dad failed to fill out the FAFSA on time and I lost $4,000 because of it. So now I have $3.57 in my bank account

At the end of the day (or year as the case may be), I just try to look at all the blessings in my life and be thankful that I have it better than most of theworld. Try to keep things in perspective and thank God for what you DO have and all the good in your life.

For some reason I stay positive about the nasty year I had. I was almost expelled from school, we had our worst winter ever in January, broke up with mygirlfriend. Everything is going better but college is getting old.

2001 was a great year all the way up until September, not just because of 9/11 but because I started high school which sucked all four years.

I agree with the statement that we shouldn't let the media sway us like it does. They make their money off of negativity. Iraq, by the way, is goingextremely well right now and I guarantee if you sit in front of a cable news channel for four hours you won't hear a word about it.

Let's all make a pact to make 2008 THAT year.

I don't know, this year was ok until the school year started for me. Lost the V card, finished my junior year can't complain. College stuff is justoverwhelming. Mom dukes has been depressed plus all of my friends are away at college. My weekends have been pretty boring to be honest. Just looking foward tothe second part of the year.

Any particular "L's" that you're referring to? Because the only ones I can think of referring to rappers and athletes were broughtupon themselves, and the rest of them are happening to everyone else regardless of race.
